Tubes trouble? I agree with @newbee it doesn’t sound like a tube problem, good advice on likely fixes. But for all my ARC equipment I have an extra set of tubes. If a funny noise comes up in a single channel, I change the tubes in that channel (or both if I ...

A Story about a Defective Signature Platinum OP… mister handyman, You are fortunate then that you can competently fiddle with tt’s. One advantage I would have in this situation would be I would only need to call up my dealer and he would fix the issue at no cost or effort on my part..
Sequential Tube Monoblocks I have had three ARC Reference 160 stereo amps and two of the same model monoblocks. The monos produced at least two years before the stereo versions and the stereo versions produced over about a year. They all sounded exactly the same… first when...

Alpa 300b Mono's information Aric Audio Alpha 300b amps?
Tube microphonics These days ARC only puts dampening rings on small tubes. Not big power tubes. This does not take away from the argument that tubes can be microphonic. I suspect the large power tubes may run so hot, that they cannot use those dampeners.
Am I broken? Am I stuck? Do I have to return my audiophile card now? @pmiller115 I have seldom ever experienced compromise in the pursuit of the high end in either my home theater or audio systems. There are some rules: always research the heck out of any purchase, and never spend less that twice as much on the n... |
