Working with Audio Salesmen
@OP,I would be annoyed at your dealer's behaviour. If he helped you put the system together, he should have given you a heads up on when the equipment would be arriving, and if there were to be delays, at least let you know as soon as he/she did.An...
Benchmark DAC 3B Vs. Schiit Gungnir Multibit and a question.
@OP,Richard, I would definitely let it burn in. In fact, just leave it on.The folks at Ayre recommended doing the same with the Codex, despite it running pretty warm. They said it doesn't 'hurt' it and helps with sound quality.B
Women who enjoy quality speakers
@OP,Great Post!I mean it.As a kid from the Projects, I wasn't exposed to the finer things in life.Going to an Ivy League college exposed me to things I could not afford, but still lusted for. My parents chastised me for being so gullible. After col...
Speaker Cables and Connectors
@OP,There are retailers that allow you to try their products, and return them if they do not perform.https://www.thecableco.com/lending-libraryOnce again, it would help to know what you are using in order to ascertain what would be best for your s...
Stupid Power Conditioner question but...
I think the OP did say he/she had a whole house surge protector in place. already. If so, I think any downstream surge protection would be superfluous.IMHO, putting an amp behind a surge protector that is not a whole house one is a potential way t...
Stupid Power Conditioner question but...
@OP+1. The whole house surge protector is the best way to safeguard against power surges, not only for your stereo equipment, but your computers, as well.@erik_squires @jea48 ,Always great advice.Bob

I have no experience with Focal's, but I think it would help if you described the rest of your system.A lot depends upon that information as to what will work for you.B
High end Class D amps?
I am no EE, but Ralph's explanation is clear to me.How another member cannot accept this is beyond me.Bob
Does Bluesound have a new product launch coming?
+1 @needlebrushDunning-Kruger effect.B
High end Class D amps?
Amazing.@atmasphere ,Dunning-Kruger effect seems to sum it up nicely.Bob
BlueSound Stinks(!), anyone?
@OP, Just contact Bluesound via the app.It takes a while, but they do get back to you. I have had issues with my Nodes, but Bluesound always came through.Perhaps not as quick as I would like, but they did persevere to rectify the issue. For the mon...
The Belles Aria Signature Integrated Amplifier
@jjss49 ,I have no experience with either Hegel or Naim, but I will say that the Belles Aria Integrated with a pair of Vandy VLR's (and with or without a sub) is a pretty sweet combo. In fact, with a Sub 3, it outperforms just about anything in th...
The Belles Aria Signature Integrated Amplifier
@gandalf ,I am using my Belles monoblocks with an Atmasphere UV-1 currently.I have a Belles Aria preamp getting an upgrade. When I get it,and have a chance to listen, I will post my thoughts on the differences between the two.FWIW, I have heard th...
Benchmark DAC 3B Vs. Schiit Gungnir Multibit and a question.
@OP, I am a bit confused. I tried looking up the Oppo and it seems to be a unit that plays back video and audio. There seems to be no way to separate the transport from the included DAC.Is this correct?Looking at the manual, there seems to be a se...
Benchmark DAC 3B Vs. Schiit Gungnir Multibit and a question.
Hey Richard, If you want, you can borrow my Ayre Codex.I guarantee it will smoke the Gungnir. (And, yes, I owned the Gungy befor e trying a Codex). These two DAC's are very good. The Yggy would probably be more closer to the Codex, sound quality-w...
