How do you know if you need to add a sub (without auditioning one, I mean)?
Though most speakers will go down to 50hz, the addition of a subwoofer adds thae very low bass notes that a speaker is unable to reproduce.Do you 'need' it, probably not. But, if you are looking to get every bit of sound you can, then a sub is wha...
Hi end audio equip sounds better today than in decades past due to tech - T/F
Yes.
Anyone's tried repairing/upgrading original Vandersteen 1 speakers?
@OP,Either contact Vandersteen directly or John Rutan(audioconnection). You can also post at the Vandersteen forum-on the Vandy website. We'd love to hear from you.Vandersteen offers great customer service. You'll probably need to buy 2 drivers, as...
How to measure Cable Sonic Differences
You can say what you want,I have no idea what Garth is doing, but the results are amazing.Every one of his new cables/power conditioner has bettered my system.Bob
Need music streamer with wifi and no DAC
If you can lose Roon, then a Bluesound Node would be a good choice.Otherwise, not having an ethernet cable limits you choices.I was going to recommend Innuos, but that requires ethernet. You might want to look at Raspberry Pi options...- I know the...
Amp for Vandersteen 5A Carbons
@jackd , gave you good advice. The 5a Carbons have built in subs that relieve the amp from the power draining bass notes.100wpc is fine.If you want other opinions, go to the Vandersteen website and sign up for the forum.Bob
The Sound of Speaker.
@OP,Unfortunately, if you want to be on Audiogon, you need to develop a thick skin. There are many self-professed 'experts' here who's opinions would be better taken if they used a bit more tact/reserve.That being said, though I can understand you...
Problems with Innuos Music Library missing covers
That is great to hear.I know that this can be frustrating, but you have to remember that so much of this is new. Add to that, Innous has to create a software that has to work with non related software.Frankly, I don't know how Bluesound manages to...
Wilson Audio Tunetot Loudspeakers Reviewed !
For less than the price of the Tune Tot's, you could buy a system with Vandersteen VLR's that would give it a run for the money..I think previous posters are correct, you really have to audition them. I heard the original Sabrina's years ago. They...
XLR cables, worth buying higher end?
If your equipment supports AES48 protocol, then different XLR cables should not make big difference.I switched from cables Ralph Karsten (Atmasphere) sold me (Mogami) to some AQ (I forgot the model).  And, I didn't notice a significant difference ...
Problems with Innuos Music Library missing covers
@oldears ,Sorry to hear you still have issues. I had a similar issue with an Aurender unit and had to send it back for a replacement drive.Hopefully, yours won't require it to be sent back.Innuos is usually pretty good at responding, but sometimes...
Roon - Clipping and streaming
@mapman .Though I a hate to buy yet another piece of software to play music, I find Roon to not only be the easiest to use, but on of the most versatile.I had Bluesound prior to Roon and the difference between them amazes me.Roon is very well thou...
Roon - Clipping and streaming
@erik_squires .I found it. I never would have thought to right click that icon, though.Thanks.Though I probably won’t use it.Bob
Are these streams being replaced... node 2i, and PS
All models of the Node are upgradable to current firmware.Even if they come out with a new model, they work the same.Only the 2i model support 5ghz wireless network.B
Roon - Clipping and streaming
