help a Die hard ANALOG guy choose a budget CDP
I own a Rega Apollo R and a McCormack CDP, both sound very good to me and are in your price range.I would also think about a DAC. I reentered HIFI after a 30 hiatus, using streaming music was the last thing on my mind, but, low and behold, I am li...
Wall Receptacle Oyaide R0, Furutech GTX-G and SR Black UEF
Well, with an system like tjbhuler has, I guess cost wouldn't be a restraint, but for most folks a Porterhouse would be a significant upgrade.
Wilson Sophia 1 vs vandersteen 2ce
Ooohh, I am jealous....Perhaps those Wilson's will be my next move.

Thanks docknow, I agree, the Bifrost Multibit is unbelievable. I have been using mine daily since I bought it. In fact, I don't even play my CD's anymore. I would get another, but this is just for my office and I wanted to save a few bucks. Is ther...

Audiogon's Express Checkout
Good for me. Though my bank seems to have Agon on a short list of 'suspect' sites. I had to call them to okay the charge.

Anticables speaker wire have no plastic jacket/insulation?
The current going through speaker cables is negligent for a human, though a small mammal, like a mouse, might be discomforted.
5% THD to .000 THD SOUND
Derrick, I agree, that buying over the net makes things harder, but, speaking for myself, and perhaps for you, too, having had time to 'listen with our ears', I think this puts us ahead of the rest. We know what we like and know when we hear it.Pe...
5% THD to .000 THD SOUND
Derrick, I think Bombaywalla was responding to the Geoffkait post. Also, I am I am close to your age and remember, too, all the audio mags with lots of specs. I also chased my tail those days, but was lucky enough to live in NY, where I could liste...
Type of flooring in a listening room?
I have never been a fan of wall to wall carpet for aesthetic reasons, though it probably is best for sound, in your case, as you are located on a slab. If you did the vinyl flooring, I would add an area rug. In addition, I would add wall coverings...
Bi-amping Rules
I, too, considered bi-amping, but now think a pair of Monoblocks  would be a better way to go. Introducing 2 different amps is a recipe for trouble/disapointment as there are too many variables.
Room Acoustic treatment suggestions, ideas & recommendations
A pic of your room would help due to the complexity of your description.I would also contact a local B and W dealer, or any high end audio dealer to help you with your project. It would be money well spent considering they do this stuff all the ti...
vandersteen 2sigs to magnepan .7 good move?
I still think you should add a sub. My room is about the same as yours and by adding the subs, everything sounds more real and integrated.
