Subwoofers Nice post, Montaldo. I agree with your perceptions.Vandersteen subs, coupled with the m5-hp crossovers, make for a seamless integration.
Vandy 3A and "Signature" Johnny R is a Agon member(audioconnection), so he would be easy to contact. Mr. V. is available, but he can be a bit brusque, so have your questions prepared in advance.A quick Google pulled up this review:http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/vander...
Which Deoxit...? Deoxit D5 is probably what you are looking for.I would go to the Deoxit website for the most accurate information regarding their many products.
Recommendations for IC and speaker cable Re: Yage.I agree earlier models of Transparent cables didn't go well with Vandersteen's, but I have to say the current line-up, is much more smoother.Zu is selling their earlier cables on Ebay, and they can be gotten for considerably less than the...
Recommendations for IC and speaker cable I have a set of current model Transparent Plus cables for my speakers. Though some have felt they are not what I should use with my Vandy 3a sigs, I enjoy them and think they will serve you well, as far as the high frequency 'screech'. I have owne...
Upgrade from Vandy 2w to 2wq. Thanks for the reply Johnny. Yet another task to perform...But, it does make sense, and I will do it when I can get some free time- Yes, I am a Gardener, so summer is when I make my 'bread and butter'.Is a Radio Shack Soundmeter okay, or should I...
Why do you give bad advice? +1 for mitchchavis, what do you find 'bad' about our replies to the OP?What would you propose to be 'good advice'?And, why didn't you provide it?
Internal Power Supply Technology Changes since 1999? Though I am not an expert, I think much has changed for the better since the turn of the century.I own a lot of McCormack equipment, and can attest that Steve McCormack constantly updates his updates as newer/better parts become available-sometime...
Buying Without Audition Larstusor, that is a good way to start. I think having a speaker that you know and love, makes for an easier way to consider other loudspeakers that you do not have access to audition-when the SAS bites. All the Best- Bob
Upgrade from Vandy 2w to 2wq. Thanks jokerman, I really don't want any more bass, just more accurate.Stringreen, I am looking at a pair of 5a's for sale. The seller is very accomodating (will meet me near my location). My only problem is whether they will fit in the space I ha...
Upgrade from Vandy 2w to 2wq. Thanks sdcampbell,I already own the 2w's, but was considering the 2wq. that was for sale on Agon. It sold, but I am now considering upgrading to the Vandy 5's, instead.
Buying Without Audition Oblgny, I would love to hear your impressions of those other speakers-Non Maggies. Perhaps a PM to me?
Amp or speaker first, upgrade Way to go!I, too, have the Vandy 3a sigs. I remembered listening to the original 2's back in the early 80's, and after a 30 year hiatus, I finally got back into hifi. I have to say the Vandersteens have met and exceeded all my expectations. Enjoy....
Possibly dumb question: can I use two cable runs for each channel, not bi-wired? As far as being able to do it, I would say yes. This would be a true Bi-wire set up, but in your case, you would be doubling the cable to the same post. Would there be a sonic difference? Probably. How different depends on your equipment. As far as...
Adcom a weak link? Are you using both pairs at the same time? or Alternating? The Infinite Slope, by a quick Google, seem to be a bit on the vintage side age-wise.Like I said, if you get Musical Design to upgrade some of the internals, I think you should be able to g... |
