Is it the beer or do speakers/electronics really need some extended warm-up period? I think most audio manufacturers believe their equipment benefits from an hour or two of being powered on. At least McCormack and Ayre and Atma-Sphere recommend keeping things powered on for a while.Bob
How to transport used MBL 101 speakers w/o crate? I concur with all previous posts. First, contact MBL for the best way to move them. These speakers are pretty serious badboys. I wouldn't trust trying to do it yourself in order to save money- you might damage them- which will cost you more money t...
Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7s? - seeking advice That you seem to have no intention of auditioning Zu’s makes me think that you only are interested in speakers with 5-6 digit prices. That being said, go to Audiotroy. I am sure you will find something you will find worthy of consideration. While ...
Need help in general and for choosing mid ranged amplifier I tried to get some specs on your speakers, but the Triangle website wanted me to register. So, lacking that info, I suggest you contact Triangle directly and get the info you need from 'the horse's mouth'.The 5 ohm minimum impedance should be wit...
Tube amp for Zu Omen @anshoo,I would contact Ralph at Atma-Sphere directly. He sometimes has demo's or upgraded equipment for sale. That's how I got my MA-1's and MP-3.I couldn't have afforded it otherwise.Bob
Are the folks at Vandersteen ok? @bdp24 I'd be interested in hearing what you think about the Sales division head.PM me.Though, to be fair, he wasn't the designer, like Richard.I didn't know Richard was an oenophile, thanks for including that info.B
Are the folks at Vandersteen ok? Yup, he can be a bit curt, and I do think he rubs people the wrong way, but I can tell he is a straight shooter. He can't delegate the PR to someone else, because he knows what he knows from experience-unfortunately that is something that can't be...
Not Enough Options for Auditioning Speakers +1 for Johnny. He won't try to sell you something.-Only give you good advice. For free.B
Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7s? - seeking advice +3 for the Sabrina's.Though I am a Vandy fanboy, I think the Zu's have more punch for rock.B
Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7s? - seeking advice You could try a pair of Zu Definition speakers. They play well with tubes and are good with both classical and rock. they are also considerably less.-With the savings you could get a pair of Subdomination subs. The 30 day trial period doesn't hurt.B
Not Enough Options for Auditioning Speakers @actolexII bought my speakers and amps from Audiogon members who not only allowed me to pick up the items, but allowed me to listen to them before I bought. There are a lot of generous people out there. Like anything, it pays to be cautious. PM th...
High-Resolution Audio (Battle of the Sound). What say you? I got Spotify and I haven't looked back. I've listened to my CD collection way too much and I love having an unlimited library to listen to.I got rid of Tidal, as their library is concentrated to mostly current music (which I don't relate to). MQA...
System Upgrade Recommendations I would contact Johnny Rutan (aka: Audioconnection) via PM.He can give you some great advice as far as amps go. Heck, he gives great advice. Period.Bob
Shipping large speakers @olesno ,If the manufacturer feels Fed Ex is up to the task, then don't sweat it.Though, in my opinion, I would ship them freight. Those delivery guys have to handle tons of heavy boxes each day, so I wouldn't expect 'white glove' service.B
Best player for Spotify @mr_m Yup, I use an optical cable from the Node to the Ayre, Balanced to the amp (AX-7e).@OPI was using a Schiit Gungnir (non-multibit). The Schiit was good, the Ayre was better. I may opt to upgrade the Gungy in the future.BTW, Arthurd, I feel th... |
