Vandersteen 2wq with Mccormack dna .5
@uditnaik I haven't used the fixed crossovers, but the M5-HP. So, batteries shouldn't make a difference. The DNA.5 is rated at 100K ohms, so you should be  good to go considering you have 100-50. Why you aren't hearing differences is troubling to ...
Vandersteen 2wq with Mccormack dna .5
You can also adjust upwards (above 100K). I used the M5-HP with Vandy 3a sigs and Treo's. with a DNA-1-which has 100K ohm. I definitely heard a difference between 150K and 75K, with the bass becoming more pronounced as I proceeded lower.1 question...
Dac+Amp recommendation for streaming-only system
I think Zu speakers are quite good- especially for the price. My Unions compared quite favorably to my Vandy 3a sigs.To answer your question:For now, keep the amp.Get an Ayre Codex DAC and a Bluesound Node (1 or 2), used.Though the Bluesound Node h...
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what?
@brooklynluke I concur with posts recommending additional break-in. Many speakers require 600 hours to settle down.I bought a pair of Zu Bookshelf speakers last year and suddenly, after many hours of playing, they sounded better than I remembered....
Is it the beer or do speakers/electronics really need some extended warm-up period?
I think most audio manufacturers believe their equipment benefits from an hour or two of being powered on. At least McCormack and Ayre and Atma-Sphere recommend keeping things powered on for a while.Bob
How to transport used MBL 101 speakers w/o crate?
I concur with all previous posts. First, contact MBL for the best way to move them. These speakers are pretty serious badboys. I wouldn't trust trying to do it yourself in order to save money- you might damage them- which will cost you more money t...
Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7s? - seeking advice
That you seem to have no intention of auditioning Zu’s makes me think that you only are interested in speakers with 5-6 digit prices. That being said, go to Audiotroy. I am sure you will find something you will find worthy of consideration. While ...
Need help in general and for choosing mid ranged amplifier
I tried to get some specs on your speakers, but the Triangle website wanted me to register. So, lacking that info, I suggest you contact Triangle directly and get the info you need from 'the horse's mouth'.The 5 ohm minimum impedance should be wit...
Tube amp for Zu Omen
@anshoo,I would contact Ralph at Atma-Sphere directly. He sometimes has demo's or upgraded equipment for sale. That's how I got my MA-1's and MP-3.I couldn't have afforded it otherwise.Bob
Are the folks at Vandersteen ok?
@bdp24 I'd be interested in hearing what you think about the Sales division head.PM me.Though, to be fair, he wasn't the designer, like Richard.I didn't know Richard was an oenophile, thanks for including that info.B
Are the folks at Vandersteen ok?
Yup, he can be a bit curt, and I do think he rubs people the wrong way, but I can tell he is a straight shooter. He can't delegate the PR to someone else, because he knows what he knows from experience-unfortunately that is something that can't be...

Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7s? - seeking advice
+3 for the Sabrina's.Though I am a Vandy fanboy, I think the Zu's have more punch for rock.B
Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7s? - seeking advice
You could try a pair of Zu Definition speakers. They play well with tubes and are good with both classical and rock. they are also considerably less.-With the savings you could get a pair of Subdomination subs. The 30 day trial period doesn't hurt.B
Not Enough Options for Auditioning Speakers
@actolexII bought my speakers and amps from Audiogon members who not only allowed me to pick up the items, but allowed me to listen to them before I  bought. There are a lot of generous people out there. Like anything, it pays to be cautious. PM th...
