Big speakers in small room at moderate volume levels
If you want something stand mounted the Vandy VLR is exceptional for the money. I have them in my office, using them off axis (actually mounted near the ceiling corners on wall mounts). Very nice and relaxing, and detailed. I have listened to them...
Audioquest Makenzie XLRs
This thread seems to have run its' course, but I'll bite.Paying more doesn't necessarily relate to better performance. Most manufacturers will stage their products with greater resolution in conjunction with price. Also, system symmetry comes into ...
Vandersteen sub question
@tomic601 I forgot about a Y-splitter. Having no experience with REL subs, I didn't know there was way to avoid the internal crossover. You da' Man...Bob
Vandersteen sub question
+1 Tomic.Considering how the M5-HP is filtering frequencies above 80 or so hertz, if you added the REL via the speaker connections, then it would be receiving a filtered signal (-6 db? at the crossover point). I don't know if you would be able to ...
mono block or bi-amps which would you pick?
I, too, had a bad time with Sound by Singer. It wasn't the money, but the attitude. I can't believe they are still in business. In any case, I hope to hear you review.Bob
Advice Needed: Bluesound Node vs Vault
Though you have to wait to get a Teamviewer appointment, they do allow you to set the time to whatever is convenient for you.B

Jeepers, you Pass owners are really PASSionate about your amps.I have learned a lot from your posts. I did not realize the XA-30 implemented an entirely different topography. But, then I just an Ayre guy...B

I still wouldn't cut the Vandy's. My Treo's are great, but having the EQ bass would be the way to go without adding too much to the size of the speaker. I urge you to at least give them a listen.Bob

Now that kantx resurrected this post. I wonder how Zipost fared?Bob
Why so many wilson alexias for sale
I am also surprised at how much depreciation they have, especially after a new iteration.Sometimes over 50%.B
Bright or Dim?
I found out that listening in the dark allowed me not only to 'see' the soundstage better, but to also concentrate on the music.Bob

@tomic601 ,I broached this with John Rutan and he seemed to poo poo the idea of digital room correction. I am intrigued by it, as Almarg seems to find his DEQX to be a valuable addition. Are you using it with your systems?B

I am a little late to this thread. But, knowing ctsooner (I own his old Treo's). I have to say, that they will not 'overwhelm' you listening area. Period. To add to your confusion, let me add that I also have an office (10x10x8) and am using the Van...
