beginner seperate system
Actually, Atma amps are pretty stable for a tube amp. If impedance drops are severe, he recommends using the Zero Autoformers.Even Steve McCormack says they make his SS amps sound better.Bob
Some components too old now?
Like you said, it was one of the best in its' day, but that was more than 20 years ago. I think you'll find just about any DAC built recently will be a significant improvement.I found a link to another forum (hopefully allowed) asking the same que...
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA
@twoleftears ,Exactly.I bought a 2016 TTS that has a B&O sound system. It sounds like crap. My previous TTS had a Bose system that sounded leaps and bounds above the B&O-and that is saying something.B&O had some really interesting gear...
Omni Directional....Interesting....
That helps..Well, in short, they sound very good, if you like dispersed sound- that is, a room filled with sound without a pinpoint source. Though if you want a highly imaged/focused sound, then they are mostly lacking in that area. There will be t...

Transparent SS and V?
Not to be a party pooper, but I think there are better cables at a more reasonable price than Transparent.Have you looked inside of the network boxes?Do a Google search. And, yes, I bought over $3K worth of speaker cables from them.If you like what...

What do you want to ask?I just auditioned some German Physics speakers which would probably be considered Point Source omni's. They were very nice.I have always been interested in omni speakers, but have found their imaging to be a bit fuzzy. Tech...
Classical Music for Aficionados
@twoleftears Rubenstein's #4 concerto has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it 40 years ago... It was on an old VoxBox collection with Micheal Ponti.Actually, I rediscovered it on Spotify. They had 3 volumes from Early Romantic to Late R...

I never said I did it 'the first time around'.And, what does Steinway have to do with it?Perhaps if you weren't so full of yourself, I would be more accommodating.B
Some components too old now?
Technology has improved by leaps and bounds in those 30 years. If you can use the Marantz as a transport, I would invest in a good DAC like an Ayre Codex or Schiit Gungnir or Yggy. Not too much money, but lots of quality performance. And, they offe...
Pass Labs - 350.8 stereo vs. 260.8 monos
To be fair, I think Pass is a great designer. I wish I could afford his amps.B
Pass Labs - 350.8 stereo vs. 260.8 monos
@erik_squires .Good point!Sometimes people get caught up with a name and don't consider the alternatives.I love Ayre as well, but they work incredibly with the Vandy's. I don't recall if the OP mentioned his speakers? As has been mentioned often, ...
Room Dependent
Just jealous, I suppose...When you get it right the first time, you don't need band aids.B

@tomiiv, Good Move. There are plenty of great amplifier designers out there that you can choose from.Especially at that price point.Bob
