Which sounds best, 120 volts, or 240 volts?
@cleeds I presumed @joeylawn36111 meant the case of a component designed for dual voltage operation (or switchable between the two) in which case for a given power draw the current will halve as the voltage doubles. Of course if you plug a 110v on...
Anyone know anything about any of this equipment? LINN, AYRE, TICE, ETC.
You have some great stuff here. Probably your best move if you wish to sell it is have a good dealer do so for you. Echo Audio here in Portland is one suchYou can also make an estimate of value by using the Blue Book function in AudioGon or by exa...
Looking at a new non-SACD player, but still own lots of SACDs
@nordicnorm are you sure it outputs DSD? According to the manual the alternative digital output is 96khz/24bit vs 48khz/pcm (i.e. Red book). So two levels of PCM output but no DSD. As previously noted outside computer formats for downloaded files ...
Is this a disgrace to the Industry ?
@sevs regarding the van seems you can still buy the things (but use this on your prized vinyl at your own riskhttp://odditymall.com/soundwagon-portable-record-playing-hippy-vanand no nasty digitization going on here 😏
HQ Vinyl Pressing Of Dire Straits Love Over Gold
Based on the example of Brothers In Arms the one to beat is likely to be the MoFi 45rpm 2 disc set that will be released soon. The original U.K. pressing is my current reference. I’ve owned original US, Japanese and other current repressings but a...
The Palladian-A step beyond
Finally to report on my new screws -- as mentioned they come nicely presented, two pairs one shorter set and one longer. Each with a small plastic type washer. The shorter pair were an exact swap for the brass screws that had come with my Palladia...
Is this a disgrace to the Industry ?
Not a new idea by any means (remember the VW bus version?) but if it keeps more folks interested in Vinyl and more presses open then good luck to them!
Audioquest WEL Signature
@infection sorry if I was it clear. The demo cable was a shotgun biwire set (some $60k+ worth) and my speakers are single terminal so I had to connect together two sets of banana plugs into one set of terminals - not a pretty sight. Anyway just wa...
The Palladian-A step beyond
Well I have my free screws - and very nicely presented they are. My wife was just about to try to put them on her ears as jewelry 🙈As as to the special built for me shim it's still en route somewhere between Bundespost and USPS. I will mount the s...
Audioquest WEL Signature
I held a head to head shootout of AQ WEL vs Odin I vs SR Galileo LE in my system a few years back. i was replacing Valhalla I at the time.  I use AQ WEL for all my interconnects but in my system the Galileo sounded more integrated and open. The Od...
Cable elevators
Like nonoise I got great results from simply looping my Valhalla cable over a hook screwed into the wall behind my speakers. Obviously you can pay big $$ for the elevators nordost make (https://www.musicdirect.com/accessories/Nordost-Sort-Lift-Cab...
The Palladian-A step beyond
@acman3 lets just say a few of the regulars were indulging in some rather off topic historical/political badinage- nothing that bad and quite interesting and well informed but clearly not to the moderators tasteback to the Palladian I'm looking fo...
Looking at a new non-SACD player, but still own lots of SACDs
The problem with the plan you propose is that the vast majority of SACD players will not pass DSD and instead only output PCM thus losing all the benefit of the SACD. DCS transports will pass DSD but only in proprietary formats that need a DCS DAC...
USB "A" and "B" to RCA adapter
Presumably the adapter splits the one USB to two RCAs hence four conductors?
Best divorce album?
How about "Shoot out the Lights" Richard & Linda Thompson? Not divorced when it was recorded but you can hear the breakup happeningÂ
