cartridge setup help
Actually what would be ideal is to use a nut that will fit such that it cannot move in the little square cut out under the screw hole, that way you can tighten down into it nice and easy. So if none of the nuts you have are suitable maybe go out a...
cartridge setup help
My experience with this type of channel is that the screw is quite loose and it is the bolt tightening on the edge that secures it so I'd not worry too much if the screw alone is a very loose fit as long as you can tighten the bolt down firmly. Ob...
cartridge setup help
Not sure if this is stating the obvious but this is not a threaded cartridge and it will need a nut and bolt to fix it. It should have come with a set of suitable screws or you can pick them up online like thishttps://www.ebay.com/itm/Deluxe-Turnt...
Did I just ruin my amp
I think @stereo5 is correct, it’s alarming but nothing to worry about. Depending on what the amp is you may have also lost a protection resistor. I used to own AirTight amps that blew power tubes with great regularity and every time I needed to so...
Review Audioquest Hurricane (part 1)
@joey_v thanks for asking about my comment “light on bass” as I meant to expand. Too many audio systems add an emphasis, a boom or low/mid bass stress that seems superficially attractive and is often quite exciting. But real bass isn’t like that, ...
Review Audioquest Hurricane (part 1)
In the hope of adding something useful and not entirely tangential to this thread here follows my impressions of the AQ Dragon.I have been using AQ WEL power cords for about five years now. Initially I had them powering my ARC Ref 2 Phono SE and R...
Review Audioquest Hurricane (part 1)
As an owner of the new Dragon power cords I think very highly of them and can happily describe what they bring (and have done so in other threads). This so called “review” however is just a farrago of meaningless b/s - AQ should be embarrassed to ...
Les Davis 3D-2 CLD discs
glad you liked it, that was my post for “Lovely Recordings”. It’s gratifying to see that folks are finding stuff via it, I’ll post some more suggestions
Les Davis 3D-2 CLD discs
I have a few dozen of the Les Davis discs -- they are especially useful in those places where any other footer cannot be readily fitted. For example under my TT power supply which I usually need to have on edge so not stable for any other footer. ...
Help needed for a skeptic!
I will say there are some impressive fakes on eBay. Check this seller out. Close inspection of his AQ WEL power cord is needed before you see that the font for “SIGNATURE SERIES” is wrong, and the WEL signature is too even. Unless you had an origi...
Help needed for a skeptic!
Are you sure those are genuine? That price is unrealistic -- and there are a slew of fake Kharma cables listed on eBay. The listings I was able to pull up of the sold grand reference speaker look nothing like legitimate shots of the original from ...
Help needed for a skeptic!
@rodman99999 that's good to hear -- in that they have the willingness to offer additional discounts off new cables over and above their advertised ones, I guess I've never done enough business with them to get to that point but glad they are compe...
Help needed for a skeptic!
@rodman99999 while the audition fee is fair and the application of it to purchases is also reasonable the issue with the Cable Company is that their discounts off new cable purchases are far from reasonable -- while they have a "frequent flyer" pr...
Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
I guess you can do it once at a given dealer but don't expect them to keep welcoming you back. In my experience treating dealers fairly serves you much better in the long run -- doesn't mean you have to spend all your $$ in once place but at least...
Help needed for a skeptic!
While the Cable Company loaner program is good it does cost, and their prices are expensive if you ever buy from them. An alternative is to be active in the used market -- there is little to no risk in buying used cables and those you do not like ...
