Room Treaments - Where To Begin...
@mike_in_nc  Yes, that is the fundamental beginning.   I custom built a room which addressed bass (built-in activated carbon filters).   After your 3 recommended fixes, Shahki Hallographs (unless you have really fantastic soundstage and imaging sp...
Beautiful Music That Reduce You To Tears
@laps - you win! @jordsg & closenplay - excellent choices Another choice - The Lord is My Shephard/Psalm 23 Meir Finkelstein w/choir and orchestra  or same by Gerald Cohen and choir
If you have a CD Player, you need to do this periodically...
The most obvious improvement I've made using demagnetization has been the Walker Talisman.  I bought it not knowing how effective it is at the speaker terminals, just waving it back and forth for 5 to 10 seconds.   That really opened up my system....
Help with Cartridge choice
I can’t believe no one has mentioned the highly esteemed Dynavector 20XII. You can use the L version like the Hana ML with your Zesto. It is slightly less expensive than the Hana and neck and neck in sound quality, construction, etc. 3 of my frien...
Products you added to your system in 2021 that made most impact to your music enjoyment
Oops!  Forgot, had my friend build a balanced to single ended transformer(s) for my COS Engineering D1 DAC.   Much improved sound.
What are your favorite recordings that sound best to you?
American Percussion Society, Paul Price ‎– Breaking The Sound Barrier Vol.1 Percussion Urania USD 1007 LP  (not the later pressing) The Ramsey Lewis Trio – Down To Earth (Music From The Soil)  Verve Records 314 538 329-2   CD  (not any of the ori...

2021-minor improvement to a very good system-using my Walker Talisman on the rear input panel and over all cables in my system.  Opened up sound significantly.  I've owned it for 15 years and my friend and I tried it and it works best there.   For...
Help, which preamp to buy from my shortlist?
For the price EAR 864 is a versatile pre-amp with very good phono stage, tape capable, ample inputs.  Tube rolling is preferred with NOS 12AX7s (1 12AU7) tubes (but only 5 total) easily obtainable.  It's my back-up pre-amp I purchased in 2005.  Ph...
RCA interconnect recommendation
@louis - Yes High Fidelity cables are a "killer" of sound. The worst sounding cables I’ve ever heard including a $750,000 system whose owner immediately upon hearing GroverHuffman.com cables, purchased them at 5% of the high end High Fidelity cabl...
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker?
mijostyn  Right you are!  My custom built listening room has highly damped side walls and ceiling with all 3/4" cherry plywood walls (besides the SR HFTs & internal wall bass traps of activated charcoal chambers, etc.) and is only 19' X 15' X ...
Better CD Sound: The Search
@jafant - Checked and oops!  My Sony is the 707ESD not the 777ESD.  The 777 is a later version without the full set of features.  Sorry.
Better CD Sound: The Search
The last Sony I had, used as a transport was the 777ESD. While full sounding, it also was very dark, lacked ambiance and detail.  Great remote too and full featured!   Used as a CDP, yuk! Could be the old caps and the power cord (but the Kyocera u...
Better CD Sound: The Search
@jafant The Kyocera 310.  I've owned/heard over 50+ CDPs from the 80's 90's and 2000's (Denon 1500 was okay).  I also owned a Cal Audio Tercet III and Muse Signature 9.  The were vastly inferior with the Muse sounding awful replaced by a Marantz 6...
Does Time alignment and Phase coherency make for a better loudspeaker?
@rooze  I wonder if the Evolution Acoustics MM3s which have a family resemblence to Dunlavy Vs have similar time alignment.  Does anyone know?   Despite the truly great sound emanating from Dunlavy's, I cannot tolerate single point/seat listenin...
