Restored Vintage SS Amps for Sale? I agree that switches and potentiometers eventually wear out. Usually replacing them is very time consuming. Even the best Leviton Centura switches, made in 1967 break. Caps and silicon devices are easy. Only problem is for obsolete transistors. A...
Kenwood Basic M2 Upgrade 105C capacitors almost always last longer in hi-fi equipment due to heat. Electronics fail mechanically first, primarily due to thermal cycling and vibration. High temp 105C, vs. 85C caps mean, they are built better during construction, and can ha...
How to split stereo into stereo plus sub out? If your speakers have "line level" outputs, without having to modify anything, give that a try. I had never heard "non-active" speakers having line level outputs before, learned something new, thanks. I think my idea will work just fine too, but y...
Audioquest Two ended Bi-Wire terminations Okay got it. To be safe all 4 conductors on the speaker cables should be isolated from each-other. It's impedance matching for the Bryston amplifier, better safe than sorry. But in reality it should not matter for this specific application.
Good quality wireless, active speakers ?? Why wireless? So many wired speakers will sound great and better than the best wireless.
Best 5.1 options under $5k SVS is decent, but there are better... I don't agree with a ported sub, you want something that is great for everything. DC servo, push-pull is my first choice. Sealed or subs with one passive drivers are good too.

Kenwood Basic M2 Upgrade +1 jasonbourne - I would have all electrolytic capacitors replaced with higher temp, 105C caps, before putting into service. You can specify this to whomever is doing the service!
Downside of sensitivity? Speakers are very subjective. I personally like speakers that are efficient, 93dB/watt@1m or greater. Concentric or coaxial mounted drivers best, 2nd is vertically aligned drivers as close together as possible. Only one driver for the tweeter freq...
Buying used: how old is too old? ghdprentice - AMT 1D’s have Poly cones that don’t disintegrate and the rubber surrounds are pretty durable, but can be replaced. Paper cones and various other cone materials are also durable unless they have been exposed to direct sunlight and hea...
How to split stereo into stereo plus sub out? Are you using the XLR's for the amplifier inputs? If so, getting a 1/4" TRS phone plug adapter to RCA's(if that's what your running to the subs) would be simple hookup. XLR's and 1/4" TRS inputs on that amp are in parallel, so both will see the ch...
100 watts enough? If you won't exceed 100dB, then 100watts/channel is plenty. Appears you are below 80dB@14 feet. +1 kijanki.
What traditional dynamic speakers deliver a sonic signature similar to a horn speaker? Zu Audio, ALL, Omen Defs are 101dbB@1watt, sound great. +1 Tannoy. |
