Will a digital transport burn my Dac Digital coaxial output is specified at 0.6 volts, with an input voltage of 0.2 volts. It's not likely that the Zen caused a problem with the dac. Most likely the problem was or is in the source material to the Zen.
100 watts enough? I love lots of power, I have 4.7kW in my living room. But for your condo application, I think 100W/channel is fine. If your planning to move into a house or a bigger place then investing in more power might be useful.
Stacking gear no more rack space does it affect sound quality Heat kills over time, not right away.
Paradigm or JL subwoofer You should consider some used JL's. E110's would probably be enough, but the F112's can be had for less than $2k each. Even F113's for less than $5k a pair. E112's for less than $3k a pair. Happy hunting...
Paradigm or JL subwoofer For me it's JL all the way, sounds better and goes deeper. Also look at the resale value of Paradigm, not good. You can do your own reduction of the low frequencies from your main speakers if you want. You will feel the JL's!
Anybody Listen Voxativ? I haven't auditioned any yet, but intend on doing that soon.
Stacking gear no more rack space does it affect sound quality I agree with rodman EMI/RFI and ebm. I do have a couple items stacked, but not more than 2 high for sure. Heat is a problem for electronics reliability, try to keep them cool.
Why phase reverse switch only works when cold? That unit uses many relays in various circuits, they become unreliable after a period of time. Most failures usually occur when the unit is hot. If you have knowledge of electronic service, you might be able to locate the bad relay or component wi...
warmest speaker cables you've heard? kellyp - Where's your response to my 4Hz. question, knowledge?
Two defective pieces in a row - unreasonable to demand refund? Digital Mac's don't hold value. Sure get a 3rd, you must be looking for punishment.

Restored Vintage SS Amps for Sale? I agree that switches and potentiometers eventually wear out. Usually replacing them is very time consuming. Even the best Leviton Centura switches, made in 1967 break. Caps and silicon devices are easy. Only problem is for obsolete transistors. A...
Kenwood Basic M2 Upgrade 105C capacitors almost always last longer in hi-fi equipment due to heat. Electronics fail mechanically first, primarily due to thermal cycling and vibration. High temp 105C, vs. 85C caps mean, they are built better during construction, and can ha...
How to split stereo into stereo plus sub out? If your speakers have "line level" outputs, without having to modify anything, give that a try. I had never heard "non-active" speakers having line level outputs before, learned something new, thanks. I think my idea will work just fine too, but y...
Audioquest Two ended Bi-Wire terminations Okay got it. To be safe all 4 conductors on the speaker cables should be isolated from each-other. It's impedance matching for the Bryston amplifier, better safe than sorry. But in reality it should not matter for this specific application. |
