Point to Point vs Circuit Board
There are benefits to p2p wiring AND circuit boards. The original Phase Linear amps were p2p. In fact, when the 300 series 2 amps were built, many of them had additional wires added to certain points because the pcb traces were too thin (high resi...
When are people going to wake up and realize listening is a skill?
Listening is a skill only to a certain extent, for tweaks. If an unskilled person says your system sounds great, chances are it does.
Sound bar for Dialogue
Sound absorbing panels worked best for me. The more drivers you have, the harder it will be to get the clarity you desire.
How to repair bottom diaphragm connection of Eminent Technology LFT8 planar speakers
Some good ideas, but nothing worked for me like a new diaphragm. The fact that it’s a midrange and has a relatively low crossover with a lot of vibration, the repair I made became intermittent again. Good luck and hope it works. Keep the volume as...
Help with my nakamichi lx5...
I was under the impression you already fixed the LX-5... It's a pretty sophisticated deck and old, 1981. Have you tried Naktalk like I mentioned on other Nak inquiries? naktalk@lists.naks.com, has a group of very knowledgeable Nak experts, Willy H...
Zappa ‘88 … LP vs CD issues
I doubt it, but Zappa's LPs are among the best for SQ. Most likely it is a DDA, so digital master that was put on to an analog disc.
JBL L100 Classic 75
I do like the original L100's. Lifetime warranty to the original buyer, still sound great, never had to service in 45 years. Maybe could use some new caps, but my brother still likes the sound. Built well to last.
I'm looking for a pair of interconnects that won't shatter the bank....
Check out Kimber Kable. They have silver which has the lowest resistance. You don't need silver for the subs, but I REALLY like silver over copper for everything else. Amp, preamp, DAC, phono and not that much $$.
Absolute Polarity Switch
Is "absolute polarity" the same as changing the phase? What about "invert"?
Over loading?
I just double checked my panel and it's 12awg on the breaker I changed to 20amps. Same wire is used for the kitchen which has 20amp breakers. I don't know what the run length is but it's closer to the panel than the kitchen...
Over loading?
+1 imhififan - I concur with everything he said. For me I changed my 15 amp breaker to 20 amps because it popped occasionally on power up only, never while playing loud. I had 9.6kW output into 4 ohms though...
What capacitor would you use to upgrade Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary?
I like copper foil.
share your experiences with fuji cassette tapes here!
Fuji pretty good, but not the best. Get Z series.
Designers -who's been around the longest ?
Are you talking about electronics? All around? Bob Carver, still alive and still designing. James Martini (JBL & Altec) + James B. Lansing. I personally don't like Nelson Pass because he bought ALL the extra Sony V-FET transistors. People like...
