CD player reliability.... good and bad.
My Pioneer Elite BDP-05 has been in service for many years; I leave it on 24/7, as the boot time was always maddeningly slow, but rarely (if ever) with a disc loaded if I'm not playing it.  I have an Audio Research CD-1 in storage that no longer r...
Salk Sound vs Legacy Audio
I've had a pair of Veracity monitors for a number of years, paired with a Dehavilland tube pre and Edge G8 amp.  Having never used these with a SS pre I can't comment on this combination, but these have always floated my boat and not been fatiguin...

I nominate this company as building best speakers!
The problem with a lot of speakers that are "exciting" in a dealer's showroom is that they eventually grind on your ears in a long-term home setting, and you gravitate toward something that may not be exciting, but listenable long-term.
Looking for a black brushed mental bookshelf speaker
Looks like you're either goth or into "heavy mental".  But perhaps that's just being sentimental.
The indisputable benefit of fiber for music
Fiber is especially important when listening to tunes like "All Things Must Pass".
LAMM M1.2 - Feedback - Advice - Please - anyone heard these?
Just think of all the music these guys could have been listening to in the time it took them to wax endlessly about their favorite megabuck gear. Sheesh.
Last Audition - Blown Away By A Lottery System
Of course, if your room persists to be a problem, you could always take it out of the equation and go with high-end headphones and a great tube headphone amp!
The Weekend
Most boring halftime show I've seen in years.  Kept my interest for about 30 seconds.
Who else is using old cables/interconnects, and is happy?
I think the newest cables in my den system are at least 15 years old.  I finally threw out a pair of 1m Fulton Gold speaker cables that were languishing in my garage; probably around 40 years old.  Always a pain in the ass to use, as they were so ...
General question on Carbon fiber tonearms versus aluminum
Carbon fiber definitely sounds better on odd days of the month, and aluminum on even days.  This is especially true when you hear the tonearm installed on a turntable you don't own yourself, with  a cartridge you've never heard before, and played ...
New Klipsch Forte IV
No kidding.  Good dealer and almost perfect timing (you got the use of the III for a month plus your wait time for the IV's).
Help! Receiver or preamp? Im overwhelmed...
The Oppo suggestion would be good if they hadn't been out of production for at least two years, with used units going for 2x (or more) of the original purchase price.  The new Anthem multi-channel units look good, although if you're keeping your 5...
Does it annoy you when companies don't show the internals of electronics ?
Maybe they "just" have a proprietary design that they don't want their competitors to copy.  Think of that!
Bruce Edgar
I met him at one of the early T.H.E. Shows in Vegas.  Always wanted (but couldn't afford at the time) one of his EdgarHorns to go with my Fostex backloaded horns.
