Are active speakers the best upgrade As far as i can reason, active is more/very cost effective for what it offers. Has anyone ever priced metal cases for amps-$100 a piece starting on up? Making a speaker cabinet a little bigger to compensate for the amps volume is alot cheaper-MDF ...
Are active speakers the best upgrade Active eliminates alot of intermodulation distortion that happens in passive crossovers. Not to mention, with large woofers as the voice coil temperature rises the inductance changes, which in turn causes some phase shift, another advantage of act...
Any scientific data on cable burn-in? One, true scientific observation of cable break-in is if you pass too much electrcity through a piece of metal/wire it will burn-up/disintegrate/melt. Put 500v through some bubble gum wrapper....poof.
Want speakers for 700 but none sound good. If you really want good sound for you dollars, DIY isn't that hard for speakers with a good design. Alot of people could recommend some good kits for that money. However, I can understand the attraction to a finished product.
Best Inexpensive Tuner? Dyna FM-3 can be had on ebay for way under $50 most days.http://www.avahifi.com/FM3.htm
Have you heard a great listening room? www.goodwinshighend.com specializes in building listening rooms. They're in MA. I heard the one at progressive audio with the avalon/spectral/MIT 2c3d system. It was nice. www.auralex.com has some good articles too.
Avalon Sentinel At least they're active for that much money, more than most.
help krell circuit diagrams Well, I've heard of an expensive japanese magazine called Musen and Jenkin (sp?), often called M&J, that'll often have the circuits published for ML, Krell, etc. for the die hard DIY'ers. Your model might be in an issue? Its like $250 a year s...
Which speaker for "bright" room? Brand A, B orC? I'd say get the best speaker, and then acoustically treat the room-the high freq. are easy to deal with. Just don't get any omnidirectional thingies.
what is diff: Class "A", "A/B", and "B" Pass labs, Krell and Gryphoon are are some of the Class A crowd,FYI. Just becuase its class A doesn't mean its superior though. A well done class B can have lower distortion than a poorly done class A-although different kinds of distortion, or at ...
Anybody Tried this Room Correction Program? http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=e80d7dd05f01fce38712d6956a3e4657&threadid=1989&highlight=digital+amplifiersThat link has a healthy discussion on the amps, with specific mention given to what tact is doing. If it doesn't wor...
Anybody Tried this Room Correction Program? I'm not for super-certian with what TacT is doing inside, so maybe they do have something completely different, you may be right. I did just nosy on over to there sight. They would be about the only ones that would even have something "pure digita...
Electrostatic Speakers Weaknesses: dipolar dispersion pattern isn't capable of the most accurate imaging/pinpoint. You also have to sit 2.5 to 3 times the panel heigth back (this may or may not be a weakness). Obviously, narrower dispersion as frequency increases: beami...
Anybody Tried this Room Correction Program? Unsound, I don't know what you mean by "compromise the signal with analog at all?" It has to be converted to analog somewhere for the speakers to reproduce it (and the amplifier itself). And these errounously called "digital amps",if that's what y...
what does a Rectifier tube do? To answer the question: A rectifier (or rectification) is anything that allows something to flow in one direction without hindrance, but not the other. Its possible for a loudspeaker's port to start acting as a rectifier: air doesn't flow out as e... |
