Describe The Listening Room of Your Dreams...
The problem with spheres and weird domes is it'll get into some weird acoustics where you'll be on the only one to hear the speakers depending on placement. There's some church or something somewhere in a dome that the way the acoustics are-- some...
Does anyone actually rackmount ?????
Off topic a hair, you can put rubber stoppers between the screw heads and the faceplate to prevent blemishing the finish. It also makes it harder for people to steal the gear-at least quickly. The one that does ruffle me a little is when I see the...
Experiences with Cary 300 SEI headphone amp.,
You might want to pick your headphones first-that could affect you decision on amps (or at least look at everything from both sides). Stax come with their own amps so the Cary is useless. And some headphones are just easier to drive than others, s...

Best bargain find ever ?
Not much, but i needed an older harmon kardon cd player to match the hk receiver i had given my sister (the new ones were really unreliable and they had done away with the curved black faceplate and just went to the flat look). After buying one of...

Class A/B switching cause sonic problems?
Douglas Self's "Audio Amplifier Design Handbook" 2nd ed. covers it well.
Balance control vs. Speaker placement
The alternative to a balance nob is a volume nob for each channel-slight mod.

Search your topic "active crossovers" on www.diyaudio.com and you'll get gobs and gobs of info. "biamping" is another search that'll pull up alot of related info too.
What's the best mid-range driver available?
I believe Solen in Canada sells ATC (www.solen.ca) just for reference. What I don't get with the R-3's though, is I could swear I've seen design/kits using and R-3, but then crossed to an R-2 or R-1 to finish on up to 20khz ?????(Big Time)????? Un...
