Rel R-505 work with a Pass Labs X350.5
Contact Sumiko. They have a special cable you can order that has an RCA termination instead of the black speaker wire that uses an unused RCA plug on your preamp for ground (or power amp if you're going balanced). I believe it's $200 if it's worth...
Former MHDT Havana Lovers: What did you move onto?
Well, I've got a Calyx 24/192 DAC on the way!I also got the V-Cap OIMPs installed in my Havana. They only have about 24 hours on them but there is definitely a significant level of added clarity (and in turn inner detail) and immediacy. At this po...
Power Cords--Your Preference?
I just got my MAC Burly after anxiously waiting weeks since my order. It was well worth the wait! I have used the Source, HC, and Paradise PCs in my system as it has evolved, and I always wanted to try the MAC. Since they recently became sold at a...

Swanny have you heard the w4s?
Has anyone else heard the Calyx DAC 24/192?
Anyone else care to weigh in? I'm trying to decide between this and Ayre qb-9, the Ayre having the advantage of used availability. I'd be buying the Calyx new and will take a hit, possibly substantial, when I want to upgrade.

OK, just got a response from the US dealer of the Calyx 24/192 who has it in stock, albeit in black while I slightly prefer silver. About to pull the trigger, but have questions about return policy and warranty service. I'm so ADD.I hope returns a...

Thanks for all the suggestions. Lots of interesting stuff out there! I think I'll stick with the Bel Canto for a while -- it is really growing on me -- and then skip a level and go straight to the Berkeley Alpha DAC. :)
SB Touch through coax or USB to DAC?
FYI, if the Touch USB hack doesn't work you can get a used Mac Mini for essentially the same price that you can sell the Touch for and turn it into a Squeezebox with software like Squeezeplay. Of course there's lots of other Mac software that peop...

Oh my Meiwan... I had JUST told myself, "F- it, I'm getting the Ayre. Otherwise I'll constantly be thinking about it.". And immediately I read your post about the Calyx. Another, even more affordable, async DAC that I have seen in 2 independent re...
Former MHDT Havana Lovers: What did you move onto?
First: FORGET most of what I said about the Bel Canto DAC 2.5. I had been running it direct using the built-in digital volume control. When I plugged it into my Placette it improved considerably! Less harsh, more depth, subtlety, and delicacy. It ...

Thanks for the tip on the Russian tubes!Did you guys get charged sales tax? Don't think these guys in RUSSIA are supposed charge California sales tax. Granted, Paypal source is US, but in MN. +9.75% at that -- I don't know of any sales tax rate th...
Playstion one audiophile stereophile review
Swanny I would think twice about knocking NOS DACs. The DAC in my $15k system uses "cheapo" 16-bit chips as well.As for the PSX, I happen to find the sound very pleasing, and I do think it's a matter of taste. Some may find it soft, round, and lac...
