Integrated amp for Usher Be-718?
First and foremost: what's your price range?Second: what kind of sound do you like? Warm, sweet, and laid back? Cool, forward, dynamic, and as detailed as possible? Those are what I think of on the opposite ends. e.g. McIntosh & Sonus Faber vs...
Best budget speakers for near-field/small space
I highly recommend a small class D digital integrated like Trends TA-10.1/10.2, Virtue Audio One, or Nuforce Icon in your case. Head and shoulders above NAD C320BEE/340/350, Arcam D290, I've owned. Depth, liquidity, richness, balance are much bett...
Musical 5-channel power amp under $600 used?
Thanks for the tip on Emotiva. Looks promising from what I'm reading. Not sure why the Trends wouldn't work for HT. It plays plenty loud enough for me with stereo music. But I'm definitely up for trying something like the Emotiva XPA-5 and seeing ...
Bel Canto DAC3 or Cambridge Audio 840C?
Well, to tide me over until I'm ready to go into the $1k range I got myself an MHDT Paradisea NOS DAC with a Tung Sol 2C51 tube, and my goodness I am really enjoying it! I now find myself loving the music again and not getting bogged down by the d...
Bel Canto DAC3 or Cambridge Audio 840C?
Sorry, not in the market right now. I'm sure somebody will snatch it up on the classifieds. Has anybody heard both the Tdac and the Bel Canto?
Do I need new stands for my new speakers?
FTR, the stands look pretty much like the perfect dimensions to me and perform flawlessly with the Ushers!
Bel Canto DAC3 or Cambridge Audio 840C?
Thanks Meman, this is very interesting. Seems like a winner from what I'm reading. OK I'm taking TDAC into consideration now. I'd really like to hear from somebody who has experience with TDAC and Bel Canto DAC-3. I have read reports of TDAC outsh...
Do I need new stands for my new speakers?
Nah, height shouldn't be an issue. The Ushers are only 3" taller and the spikes make the stands adjustable. Thanks for your input!
Do I need new stands for my new speakers?
(Shameless self-bump) Haha, thanks. I have been refreshing "My threads" and wondering why there are over 85 views and zero responses.
Looking for anyone having experience with PNF IC's
I am using PNF ICON and MAC Mystics ICs and PNF Symphony speaker cables. I find the ICON throws a huge and deep sound stage with a lovely tonal balance. Smooth, slightly on the warm side (at least compared to silver), open, and airy. However, the ...
NAD C315 BEE vs. Trends TA-10?
Little late to the party here, but I've owned NAD C340 and C350 and IMO any Class T amp is in another league (I've owned the Super T Amp, Trends TA-10.1, and Virtue Two). A lot more refined, better soundstage, smoother, etc. NAD is probably better...
Monarchy DIP + MSB Link III DAC upsampling board?
Thanks Hens, that all logically makes sense. But, as we all know there's some inexplicable voodoo in hi-fi where changes in sound occur where they shouldn't.According to Stereophile's Sam Tellig, the DIP is virtually a MUST for the Upsampling Link...
Cardas Cross vs. Kimber Silver Streak
Thanks for the replies. I picked up the Cross as well as MAC Mystics. I like the MAC the best among the 3. The Cross is certainly smooth, but a little TOO smooth - perhaps a bit veiled/smeared - and I found the bass to be boomy compared to the oth...
Monarchy DIP + MSB Link III DAC upsampling board?
OK, let me ask sort of the reverse question: can/will the upsampling DIP HURT if the DAC also upsamples? I am planning on swapping the MSB for a Bel Canto DAC2 sometime, which is an upsampling DAC... but I don't know which Monarchy DIP to buy.Will...
Integrated amp with digital to analog converter?
Bel Canto S300iu, though the DAC is USB.
