You don't lack bass, you have too much treble
@curiousjim I did take a look at the Stereophile measurements for your speakers. While Stereophile does not do compression measurements, they do show a pronounced hump in the presence area. A Schiit Loki may be just the thing for you. The other ...
It's your streamer, not your modem
@jssmith - I could see lesser streamers with poor designs being more subject to upstream issues.  The writing into and the reading from the cache has to happen without the system tripping over itself, and then there is also decompression of FLAC, ...
New Audiogon URL restrictions are too much
OK, I see the problem.  If I try to copy/paste a bare link it will not work. On the other hand, if I embed a link like this one it works fine.
New Audiogon URL restrictions are too much
This is a test link   See if that works
You don't lack bass, you have too much treble
@curiousjim Well those are the non-speaker reasons for what you are hearing.  The other possible reasons are amplifier distortion or the speaker is compressing. That is, for whatever reason you are reaching the limit of the driver motion, and that...

Nope, still can't post from Wiki
It's your streamer, not your modem
@audphile1 Funny, you are the one trying to describe buffering and caching as two different things.

If I try to reply to this thread wiht a post from Wikipedia about Transmission Control Protocol I get; Sorry, you have been blocked You are unable to access audiogon.com Why have I been blocked? This website is using a security service to p...
New Audiogon URL restrictions are too much
@cleeds Yes, it blocks and erased the entire message.  It was a mundane message talking about network speeds, buffers, caches... etc. For kicks, would you try replying with a link to a Wikipedia article?
You don't lack bass, you have too much treble
@curiousjim You may have the speakers toed in too much. Many speakers are really designed for little to no toe-in, so the slightly off-axis response is a lot smoother. Another thing to try is the floor behind and in the floor between speakers. Ba...
It's your streamer, not your modem
@audphile1 -  Let me help you.  Go to Wikipedia and look up "Transmission Control Protocol" and  then in there search for "flow control." I'd link it but A'gon's firewall is blocking URLs You are confounding  "buffering" with "flow control."  Th...
For the love of...kits?
I’m not sure, but I’m starting to get the distinct feeling that if one knows which DIY stuff to buy, which kits, the path to really amazing sound is not necessarily that expensive. In other words, a little knowledge can save a lot of money.   ...
You don't lack bass, you have too much treble
Treating a room makes speakers sound smaller not bigger. Not if you do it right, no.    Subwoofers can make a system sound bigger [...] Yes, they can. The point I was trying to make is that what we hear is relative, and the overall balanc...
directional speakers
Thanks for providing better source materials than my poor memory, @audiokinesis and @jon_5912 - It seems I was very much mistaken.  My bad. I will say that I don't think "directional" is a bad thing, so I certainly didn't mean it as a negative, b...

@audition__audio  Do you believe you can have too much or too little bass, midrange or treble?
