Can't tell,if my house is properly grounded
It's hard to tell if this is really a ground loop or a preamp noise problem.Try, temporarily only, using a cheater plug on the preamp. See if this resolves your problem. If it  does, that pretty much guarantees it's a ground loop issue. If NOT howe...
Can't tell,if my house is properly grounded
Light dimmers can also cause this. So what is the minimum system that causes your hum? Best,E

Can't tell,if my house is properly grounded
This is unlikely to be a house grounding issue, however make sure your ground and neutral are properly bonded at the service panel. Are you sure you don't have a wall wart like Wifi supply or PC going on? Good that you tried your TV cables! Most p...
DACs - what exactly do these things do?
ALAC and FLAC ARE compressed file formats. They are not however lossy. Playback should be bit perfect to the original file. MP3/Ogg/MQA however are lossy compression systems.
High End Amp Price Collapse musings
markainsworth wrote: Hi, I think that however good Class D becomes, it will always sound different than Class A, and a significant enough number of audiophiles will consider them worth their weight that the market for used class A / AB amps wil...
Ceramic Speakers
I want to point out that Accuton drivers have different grades/performance/price points especially around the mid woofers and woofers. It’s hard to tell from the outside since they are all just as white, but it’s easy to be misled by looks, or get...

Maybe be a little specific. Do you mean ceramic cone / dome materials, magnets... cabinets? :) What brands? Best,E
Domes & Ribbons Sharing
You _can_ but it's extremely rare to be able to change ANY tweeter for any other and have them work out without modest to moderate crossover work. The ribbon vs. dome part is not really the incredible part to me. :) Drivers differ a great deal by ...
Please assure me I'm not going to burn my house down.
Well, mine was more than just theory. It’s also legal liability. Imaging trying to explain to a judge that the 4 house fire you caused should not have happened because you used 4 network cables braided together, and that you HAD to do it because y...
Is it too bright or is it high resolution?
By the way, I completely disagree with the idea that lack of time alignment has anything to do with brightness. Some of the brightest sounding speakers to my ears where old Thiels. Perfectly time aligned. Just like some garbage high-end speakers l...
Is it too bright or is it high resolution?
Thoughts:Improper room treatment can make neutral speakers seem overly bright. Ragged top ends are often mistaken for "high resolution" because they over-emphasize narrow parts of the audible spectrum. Several "high end" makers use this trick. Bec...
Please assure me I'm not going to burn my house down.
You may equate the gauge, but man, you are playing with fire, literally. Let's say something does go wrong.... you could be held legally liable even if you do all the math right! :) Much better to get a Connex shielded power cord and make your own...
Pass Labs XP-30 vs Krell Evo 202
@knghifi It's a shame you went through so many Sonic Frontiers gear if you didn't like any of it! How did that happen? :) Best,E
Pass Labs XP-30 vs Krell Evo 202
I should point out that the Pass Pre/Amps I heard were not in my home and were driving Lawrence Audio Double Bass speakers.
