Richard Clark $10,000 Amplifier Challenge - Why Couldn't Anyone Pass this Test??
So my previous remark was about violins. Any half hispanic, half asian lady, mostly single, concert violinist between 35 and 45 years old who would like to come to my home and prove I can’t tell the difference in which violin she’s playing, please...
Richard Clark $10,000 Amplifier Challenge - Why Couldn't Anyone Pass this Test??
The idea that you can’t tell the difference between a violin or viola you know very well and others is nonsense. Not only do they have a specific character, over time the fibers and resins break down depending on how they are played, which musicia...
Speaker phase observation and question?
By the way, if anyone wants to learn about speaker design, and how drivers and crossovers work together I have quite a bit of documentation, including real-time simulation tools you can use to play around and look at some of these concepts.  Pleas...
Speaker phase observation and question?
Man, I’m sorry I have to jump in here: In a good many speakers the phase angle is significantly different for the woofers than it is for the midrange and tweeter. If the woofer has a significant negative phase angle while the midrange and tweeter ...
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
Hahaha, well in case anyone was hoping the drama would start in this thread, I guess it will be me. :) In the 1980’s the CJ had me body and soul compared to ARC. However in the 21st century, I’d rather have ARC.  This is partly because my tastes h...
How do I remove the woofer from ads 300 speaker?
Also, try putting an awl or something inside a screw hole, and see if you can leverage it to help separate the woofer from the frame.
How do I remove the woofer from ads 300 speaker?
It is probably just suck on with old age. Can you gently pry it wiht a screwdriver? There is probably ancient foam rotted/stuck behind it. Best,E
Class D = Trash?
So it is quite possible both the Technics and NAD M2 use ICEedge at their core, with the Technics having the most advanced correction system. Cool stuff.
Class D = Trash?
Speaking of the Technics, seems the NAD M2 is also claiming some exclusive auto-correction features which are similar.Best,E
Mytek Brooklyn Dac \ Parasound A21 Amp...
I have had the Parasound A23 and have the Brooklyn. Marvelous! :) The Mytek is one of the great modern DAC's that sounds great at all resolutions, including Redbook and DSD. As a preamp it is amazing (but no vinyl here).Best,E
Class D is just Dandy!
Hi @Pinthrift,Welcome. So the M2 is NAD’s integrated with DAC. http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/nad_m2_direct_digital_integrated_amplifier/#o0ZxxctxrKyjSa...Listen, I’m curious how did you find the DAC? Did you feel it needed a lot of bre...
Mundorf MKP Audiophiler or ClarityCap ESA ?
I like Clarity ESA more than MKP. But for me it is about tone, not congestion. If you have harshness you want to get rid of, MKP is the better cap.If your tweets are relatively neutral but you want more open, then ESA
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
The thing about Sumo's consistently is they sounded deep. Side by side with a Hafler, the Hafler's of that era would sound weak and thin and compressed. Though for mid-range and treble transparency and quietness, I wouldn't trade my modern amps fo...
Mundorf MKP Audiophiler or ClarityCap ESA ?
I never had this congestion others are mentioning. Did a few Focal mods. A commercial fan of the Mundorf MKP is B&W, famous for also using these micro-motor tweets. Best,E
Tracks worth for a 1 Million system
Glad you l liked them, powermd!
