Class D is just Dandy! Hi Todd!If memory Serves, Ghent uses these a lot, if true, lot less expensive than the big modules:http://www.ebay.com/itm/B-O-ICEpower-125ASX2-Class-D-amplifier-module-new-old-stock-/182573247581?ha...Best,E
Oh man, I broke my class D amp. Make fun of me. Then help. Post a pic of the insides?Erik
HELP AFTER MY MODS, My tweeters are subdued and weak- Idahifi,Unless otherwise specified, electrolytics are polar, but crossover caps must all be bi-polar (same as non-polar). :) You can "cheat" by putting polar caps back-to-back, turning 2 polar into effectively a single non-polar with half the effe...
HELP AFTER MY MODS, My tweeters are subdued and weak- Another way to go is with bi-polar electrolytics. All caps in parallel add, but in series they divide. Using 2 x 2,200 uF caps in series is the equivalent of a single 1,100uF. I couldn't find a single bi-polar electrolytic at Parts Express, so I s...
Class D is just Dandy! Welcome @nonoise I must say, AA makes some of the very best looking gear. :) Also, there are a number of new (< 5years) dacs which sound outstanding at any resolution, and make Hi-Res and SACD less important to me.Thanks @mdeblanc glad you foun...
Subwoofer for classical music listener Well, I hope I am not one of the discouraging one's. My point is, subs can be great, but the Total Cost of Ownership is a lot higher than people realize to use them well.
Subwoofer for classical music listener I have to disagree, but with qualifications regarding what @thebestaudio posted. Not using subs for (especially) classical music is better for multiple reasons: subs are slow(er) than your main speakers and will ’muddy’ way up to the lower midran...
Subwoofer for classical music listener Hi Sevs,If you want to commit to doing it right, as opposed to just playing around for months, this is the order of things to do: 1. Room Tuning. Contact GIK acoustics for proper help, especially with their bass traps. 2. EQ/DSPWhen you get here y...
I ordered Focal Aria 936 I should also say, if you get curious, let me know. :) Those Focal crossovers can sometimes be modded to greatly enhance the impedance. Makes a world of diff in the bottom end.
I ordered Focal Aria 936 The A21 will have no problem at all with the Focal. It is a rock-solid amp, and while Focal's are a little harder to drive than needed, that will be a solid combination. :) Best,E
HELP AFTER MY MODS, My tweeters are subdued and weak- Idahifi,no. ESR = equivalent series resistance. It is measured at specific frequencies, and may be different.Again, i don't know why you are going down this route. Experiment first, replace the caps I listed. See if this fixes things. THEN if that...
Parasound vs Primaluna vs Alternatives Um, dude, the Brooklyn's preamp capabilities are superb. Have you tried running it direct to your amps? :) Best,E
Plinius Hiato Um, I think that's a really nice integrated. I'd suggest you look into your room acoustics if you haven't already. Contact GIK for great advice and products. For the price of a new amp you could get some serious improvements. :) Best,E
HELP AFTER MY MODS, My tweeters are subdued and weak- idahifi,Consistent with my posts. Best,E
Class D is just Dandy! Hi @rhale64 and welcome! Funny you mention the Parasound A23’s. I have to say that going to Class D did not improve imaging. I found the A23’s in my set up to be great imaging amps. Maybe because I ran them as dual mono? I used them in a 4.1 chann... |
