Bi amp pros out there I could use some help! First time Bi Amping...
FTR: In my experience, it is MORE common to see XLR sockets on unbalanced INPUTS than on XLR outputs. I’ve seen both professional (Yamaha) and consumer (Parasound) amps with this "feature. " The Parasound A23 for instance, but not the A21. It’s ba...
Spade vs bare wire
Bananas IMHO are the least likely to loosen. Spades are good, but only with soft metals. Using very hard terminals, and/or very hard spades leads to easy to loosen connections. WBT makes a type of spring loaded spade I like a great deal.Otherwise,...
Refurbishing 1973 Large Advent speaker
Generally, these speakers are only worth a little bit of work. If they get at all expensive, it will be much better to start a brand new DIY kit from scratch. One thing particularly difficult for noobs is finding a woofer that matches the cabinet,...

YBA PRODUCTS
I’m afraid many make in China. You can get very high quality products from China, the issue is partnering with a company that works with you and ensures your quality processes are included in the prices and costs. Too often manufacturers go to Chi...
Windows in a listening room
Lots of curtains absorb sound. You can actually hear it in the store. Put your ear right up to the curtains/carpet or wall covering. Lots cheaper than $600. :) Best,E
Center channel speaker placement
You may actually be a little better off as-is. Against the wall, the C will get more bass reinforcement. You are using room correction, so any extra boominess will be removed, and this will lower the C channel amplifier output. A better question i...
Need help regarding isolator wiring configuration.
Some marketing genius came up with balanced power to help sell conditioners. Pretty sure it predates audiophile power conditioners becoming a "thing" Its a terrible phrase because we do have balanced connectors in audio and so saying something ...
How much does volume matter when breaking in amps and cables?
I agree that traditional, static measures of a components performance is no longer adequate.I think we need dynamic measurements of speakers in a room, or data logging approaches to the performance of an amp at the speaker terminals to better unde...
SACD 5.1 vs 2 channel - really different!!
It is quite common for SACD to be mastered for different tastes, yes, absolutely. It's been repeatedly shown. I think the same may happen with vinyl vs. streaming as well. It isn't just the technology but measurably different approaches.
Gobel and the Bending Wave
Just as I thought we had covered the bending wave speaker in all its commercial forms another vendor, Audionec (yes, NEC, not NET) popped up on my radar. Pretty impressive designs, especially the modular version. http://www.6moons.com/audiorevie...
Frequency response + or - 1 dB ??
@ptss A number of them can, some more expensive than others, it's just a matter of picking the right operating range for them. :) Best,E
I Recapped my Conrad Johnson PFR. Wow! Some of the best $$$ I've spent
From what I've read, the OP had his power supply caps replaced. Interesting he's not the only one who has done this with 1980s/1990s equipment and heard an improvement. Electrolytic caps are much better now than they were then, with lower inductan...
Low Sensitivity Speakers Compression Issue.
Well, what I've seen was not instant, but clearly visible on tone bursts.  I only quibbled over the term peak compression, because it sounded like clipping. I agree it can be a serious issue though, which can evidence itself in a variety of ways. ...
Robb Report
The latest generation artificial diamonds are remarkable. Their only flaws are the lack of flaws, and they can be grown to arbitrarily large sizes, hence the latest generation of actual diamond drivers, not deposited diamond dust but gem quality c...
