Anyone going to the 2019 "The Show?" Well a buddy of mine just called and he's exhibiting so I'm going. Best,E
Paper cone woofers died in 1962 .... a look back @glupson Do KEF kits still exist? Not for a very long time, but you never know when some one will find a NOS kit in their garage and sell it on ebay. Not that I'd buy one, age will do a lot to a driver, but hey, lots of great kits from Maidsound,...
A21+ is in da house... I use pure silver IC's' I make myself. They're a little brittle since they are solid core, but never felt I lacked a thing since using them.https://www.partsconnexion.com/DHLABS-57225.html
Subwoofer Class A/B vs D Power Amplifier I don't think a dual sub is needed, and not what the OP is asking about. OP: I wouldn't worry about the class of amp. I'd worry a lot more about room correction. JL has one of the best.Erik
Paper cone woofers died in 1962 .... a look back I’m a big fan of composite construction, @bdp24 , from Focal’s W, to Rohacell to ... paper! :) I’m currently listening to Scanspeak’s Revelator mid-woofers, which are two paper layers with an epoxy bonding them together. really pretty marvelous.
I've never believed much in cables, that said... (USB) I wonder if this is just better shielding? This can help reduce how much noise your other components pick up.
Med. 2 Way + great acoustics are better than a super speaker or a sub @ieales Name a couple you don't like and a couple you do so we have some sort of frame of reference?Best,Erik
Med. 2 Way + great acoustics are better than a super speaker or a sub Sorry, what I meant to say is, given a choice, a medium sized 2-way in a great sounding room will outperform all other options in a poor room. That doesn't mean I don't envy those who can have it all. A mega speaker, with great acoustics, or a 2-w...
An Audiophile is Anyone Who Loves Audio Regardless of Monetary Status. Agree? I have never heard an item that was more expensive than the other one while sounding worse. Jesus, really?? Because I have. I’ll just start a firestorm if I start naming labels. I’ve heard much worse, or equal with a wide discrepancy in prices. I...
Anthem STR or Lyngdorf TDAI 2170? Room acoustics first. They will make everything sound better and the room more speaker friendly. THEN do the room correction. This is my advice and that of professional acousticians. Room acoustic treatment make DSP equalization work much much bet...
Where are the subs? The room acoustics matter so much.People don't believe me, but the right configuration can make your speakers sound huge. I'm not at all surprised. Best,E
Worth of current system Lets just say I saved about $12k over retail. :DBest,Erik
'Unlistenable' early digital recordings? Don't forget the DACs. They've gotten so much better over the past 10 years, especially with Redbook playback.
What is the least compressed signal? Sorry to be disagreeable the data on the CD is compressed. You aren't disagreeable, just generally wrong. There is no data compression on the audio data for Redbook CDs. HDCD is, of course, an exception. Dynamic range compression and level shifti...
Hacking a Luxman Integrated I'm definitely thinking of getting either an Anthem processor or Anthem receiver. The latter are cheaper, and have at least 5 channels of amps, letting me drive my C and Surround speakers without additional amps. |
