Demo'd a few sets of speakers over the past 2 weeks... I find the tonal balance of Vandys to be very much to my liking, unlike JT era Thiels. But I don't like them more than my current speakers, which are absolutely not aligned the same way.
I went to THE show and didn't make any friends ... I found the Vandy room sleepy (as usual) Based on the majority of the rooms, it does seem my own tastes are in the minority here. I don't find them sleepy at all. The other systems were bright and/or hard to me but I also didn't hear the Vanders...
I went to THE show and didn't make any friends ... Hi @greencup I believe it was the member of the Renaissance family, the ESL 15 A.Looking back, I also have to say that it was perhaps one of the best integrated hybrid speakers I've heard. I have argued for years that integrating a 15" sub with an...
Parasound ZM-2350 - anybody tried this in their two channel system? I applaud your ingenuity, and could see myself trying to save money this way but I suspect this is not the right thing for you. It is meant for professional installers, and may not work they way you expect, or leave you with only partially satisf...
Replacing caps on crossovers? OP:What you should do is gain some practical experience, cheaply! My recommendation for inexpensive experiments are Mundorf MKP and Clarity CSA caps. Should run you about $20 for a pair of caps. Gain knowledge for yourself. If you can't hear a dif...
Which would you choose; Pass 250.8, arc 75SE or luxman m900u? Hi @yyzsantabarbara I own the Luxman 507ux. I totally hear where you are going with this, since this amp did the same for me, but I do suggest that another way to extend your speaker’s range is great room acoustics. For a fraction of what you spe...
I went to THE show and didn't make any friends ... Curious side note: The Legacy speakers on the stage seemed to be using 18 gauge or thinner solid core speaker cables.
Dealers and exaggerated treble Yes, I've definitely experienced the "salespeople have no idea what they are doing" syndrome as well. At least it is benign of intention.Best,E
Anyone going to the 2019 "The Show?" You should not be making accusations that are unfounded. Get off your high horse. I made no accusation. I said it is possible to do a demo set up like this and be fooled. I never said it was certain this particular vendor did this on this parti...
Replacing caps on crossovers? Musichead. If the speakers are working properly there is little to gain Hi @Mijostyn : Can you tell me how many times you’ve tried this and what parts you used to come to this conclusion? Is this book learning, or have you actually experimented?B...
It is balanced or not? Op amps are not balanced when a single op amp is used. They can be used to output a balanced signal by either outputting to a transformer os using two opamp sections.
What is the least compressed signal? If "compression" is defined as adjusting the amplitude of all waveforms so that their amplitudes are all as equal as possible across the spectrum, Without RIAA, you'd loose 20-40dB of dynamic range. You have it backwards. Best,E
LOUD popping Rogue Magnum Here's an experiment: Put a fan on it. If that slows, or stops the issue, you definitely have a part that's suffering from heat. But yeah, it sounds like a bad cap.
Anyone going to the 2019 "The Show?" I caution everyone about these demos. You can equalize tracks digitally before hand, and then play different versions in different rooms.I don't know that this happened, but be careful. In the digital era it is much easier to alter things behind t...
Power Conditioner recommendations? Please see my thoughts on the matter. I agree with jaybe, in your price range the PST-8 with LiFT and SMP is the way to go. https://inatinear.blogspot.com/2019/04/power-management-for-frugal-audiophiles.html |
