What Class D amps will drive a 2 ohm load
Hypex, among others I'm sure:https://www.hypex.nl/p/hypex-ncore-mp-amplifiers/Best,E
Thoughts on Anthem MRX 1120 for 2ch
Can I ask, why an 1120? Anthem makes some really nice 2 Ch integrateds with room correction.
Thoughts on Anthem MRX 1120 for 2ch
I like miniDSP, but I am a geek and set all my filter and EQ myself. I've had Emotiva processors and I thought they were garbage, I'm going to be really interested to hear how you feel the Anthem compares, as I'm thinking of getting an MRX 720 to ...
Technical sophistication
I think you should go by your ears more than any technical sophistication. Ultimately, your ears and personal pleasure and experience is what matters. Having said that, learning and talking about technology is a lot of fun. Trying to figure out WH...
Any Love For Bryston Here?
mrdecibel : I should have asked this as a question. :) Do you not find that modern amps have less cap failures than they used to, and are you comparing equally aged pieces of gear? Erik
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone
Point taken, geoff. I think a lot of that is in the reverb too, so there's something to be said for speakers with rear facing drivers. Erik
I went from Class D to Luxman A/AB - And most of what you think is wrong
I consider the last pair of Class D amps I listened to for a long period of time the equal of Parasound A21’s in terms of warmth and color. Possibly the better in terms of noise. The noise specs are better, but I never heard noise out of either...
Speakers for a “cold” room
Room acoustics matter a great deal, so of course, do as much as you can there. If you cannot, wide baffle / wide surface area speakers are your best answer, followed by horns.
Any Love For Bryston Here?
So many companies gear require overhauls after 20 years of us I really don’t think this is fair. Electrolytic caps age. Caps made in the 1980’s were not nearly as good as they are now. Higher temp caps are cheaper and better, with lower inductanc...
CPT equi=core 1800, can you place vertically?
Nope, no problem at all, so long as normal ventilation is maintained. The transformer can get warm.
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone
@mapman I only read about it in reviews for $300K speakers and $40K cables. :D Erik
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone
I think you missed the point a little, Miller. How natural is pin point imaging in acoustic music? Roy argued, as do I, that it’s really not. The second question is whether you want it, and want it more than other features of reproduction.
Are they really 12 ohms?
This is an effect many have encountered. So long as your speaker impedance is greater than the terminals, pick what sounds best.
wide baffles and baffle step
It saddens me to say this but kenjit has been remarkably resistant to learning anything while on this forum. Whatever ideas and opinions he had last year are what he will display this year and no amount of information, help, discussion will add to...
wide baffles and baffle step
Forgot to point out, that the wider the baffle, the more energy is put into the room before edge diffraction occurs. It is one of several techniques which attempt to deal with this issue. The Snell A series attempted to use a very wide AND curved ...
