PS - When I say top of the line AMT, I mean the best from Mundorf or Beyma. Definitely not the $30 parts from Parts Express.

Hi Jerry,I'd have to know a lot more about how you designed the crossovers. DIYaudio's multi-way forum is a better place for that. As single drivers, I will put up the top of the line AMT's with the best drivers from anywhere else. Smooth, amazing...
Tidal - why only remastered versions?
I think it may very well depend. Usually I find both. For instance, I just searched for "Little Earthquakes" by Tori Amos and found both.
Why HiFi manufacturers don't make active crossovers anymore?
@kenjit You never asked me anything. I am asking you again, you claim to love DIY and active crossovers. Show us what you've made and where your experience come from. Erik

Hey @mapman AMT's are inherently dipoles. You can get them without a rear chamber. I'm actually a little surprised I never saw the late Dr. Linkwitz rely on them for his speaker kits. Best,E

Not very new. From the B&W nautilus, to the Focal Sopra line, there have been different approaches taken to minimize the opportunity of the radiated back-wave from influencing the sound. What I like about the KEF, from what little I've seen, i...

@kenjit Because none of us have any idea what your perspective is. You claim to love DIY, and active crossovers. OK, show us exactly what you built.  The question of what other speakers you have heard which you like will give us all an idea of you...

I'm usually a DIY guy, or used to be when I had tools and space. The prices and effectiveness of GIK makes it super hard to justify though.
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone
Hi @ieasles,I also worked in theater sound equipment. I find your statement a little hard to read. My experience with Neo6 and classical or Jazz was that it did a really good job of filling in the center, an area where traditional 2 channel playba...

I should also point out that horns are one area where active crossovers seem to be used much more frequently and with less fussing.

Its false that active and passive are comparable in difficulty of use. Hey @Kenjit, Still waiting on you to answer any of my questions about your current system, what commercial speakers you like, and what you don't like. You were pretty demandi...
Why HiFi manufacturers don't make active crossovers anymore?
miniDSP will get you there. The thing most amateurs don't get about crossover design is that active or passive, it's more complicated than you think. Active saves you a lot of part buying, but there are usually some trade offs, like 3x more amplif...

Speaking of 3 mike recordings, for those of you with a multi-channel setup, I strongly suggest you try the Neo6 music mode if you can. It’s really pretty good.
How To Proceed With Room Treatments
I strongly recommend you talk to GIK acoustics. They are pros and can help you get to done fast. However, yes. Try blankets and pillows. :) Try them on the walls, on the floor, especially between and behind your speakers, on a coffee table, etc. T...
