How many of you believe in MQA? I think MQA is terribly over rated. I have a Mytek Brooklyn which was one of the first fully MQA compatible DACs out there. I've disabled it and never looked back. As I've written before, MQA is to my mind, about 20 years too late. 20 years ago DA...
LUXMAN L509X VS M700/C700U erik what I understand that the first few watts is what it counts and 590 has enough watts Hi OP, I guess my point was lost. :) Based on the reviews, I think the 590 is a much bigger amp than it's rating, as I wrote above. Being in LA in an apar...
LUXMAN L509X VS M700/C700U Interestingly, the 590 and 700u share output transistor topology and have very similar damping factors. The m900 however uses 2x the number of transistors per channel, and cuts the output impedance by half. As I wrote before, the issue I was most ...
LUXMAN L509X VS M700/C700U Hi @builder3 Eric, please cite your source on the all of you claims you made two posts up about the Luxman class A’s, legality of power ratings, etc, etc. I have no issue at all with having my sources questioned, though I am not a paid contributor...
PS Audio for Home-Theater Have you added up the power you are using? The P10 is rated for 1,500 watts. The Luxman's at idle are 280W each, up to 540 at maximum. So, even at idle, there is more than half of your capacity taken (840W). Do the rest of the math yourself. :) Be...
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone Here's an interesting write-up, pay attention in particular to section 1.4http://www.sfxmachine.com/docs/FixingThePhantomCenter.pdf
LUXMAN L509X VS M700/C700U BTW, I love my Luxman integrated and the only amps I've heard better are the D'Agostinos. My only reason for suggesting to keep your separate is the damn low mid-bass issue. It may be helped by a bigger amp with more current and output stages. Sin...
LUXMAN L509X VS M700/C700U The Luxman integrateds are VERY VERY GOOD. The Luxman Class A integrateds are also very good, but I think the power issue makes them quite curious things. Based on reviews I've seen, the power supply and output stage seem built for higher output t...
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone @iealesI’m going to have to listen for a while, in most recordings they don’t actually move around. Probably going to have to find some choral works. :) There is by the way quite a body of work on HRTF and how the phantom center can’t compensate f...
List your state of art headphones for smart phone use! Uber, my Shure E4 - the same. The main reason I started looking for better was just that being so old, I got curious, especially at the multi-driver IEM’s out there, and of course, wanted the convenience of bluetooth. I would have stuck with Shure...
Sanusi SP-20,000 Rare Speakers HELP Have you tried simply googling your speaker? Lots of entries come up.
Keep SVS SB16 or change to REL S5 music only The EQ is the thing.
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone Hi David. Listen for a while to your 2 channel. Even with very good imaging I notice the following: Instruments are always louder at the sides than in the center. A horn playing hard left will get softer when it is in the center. Neo6 seems to rea...
$40,000: What 2-channel system would you build? What I heard at THE show was probably this same setup as in the RMAF: https://www.stereophile.com/content/vandersteen-k%C4%93nto-carbon-loudspeaker-and-m5-hpa-amplifiers-...
$40,000: What 2-channel system would you build? Honestly I don't remember. What I remember is that most of the rooms were awful, I heard $100K+ stacks of Esoteric and other gear and that the Vandersteen room was till way too expensive for me, but at least it didn't grate my ears. |
