Mattresses, not stereos is where the money is All about the sheets. Directional threads and cyrogenically sewn. Well, I am buying the coldest feeling memory-foam mattress I can find!
Is There any Consensus at all amongst Audiophiles? I believe in science and engineering. I believe in measurements. I also believe in the buyer's listening pleasure being the most important thing in choosing equipment. Oscilloscopes don't put up with bosses, angry customers and snow bound commutes...
Mattresses, not stereos is where the money is Nectar was a brand I didn't end up trying. I did try the Tempur-pedic. The only model that worked for me temperature and support wise was, of course, the $4,500 queen.Ended up with a Bedgear for $1,700. If I find it is too firm or too soft they w...
Mattresses, not stereos is where the money is I also want to point out this :Both stereos and memory-foam mattresses have a warm up period. The bed sleeps very differently after it's warm, the major reason I'm having to replace mine.
AMT tweeters I also want to point out that Monitor Audio makes really high value and high performing speakers. If you like them, get them. :) Oh, Parts Connexion often has them on sale! :)
The 5 stages of making a bad audio purchase Treat your room first.
does anyone have a CM Labs 911 Schematic Try DIYaudio.com
AMT tweeters No. AMTs vary a great deal in quality, and the imaging is in a very large part due to the mids and the integration with it.
Are Pass Labs amps probably the best ever you can buy ? I had to check the date to be sure this wasn't an old, resurrected thread. There are a number of amps at the Pass price point I like better, and even a number of less expensive amps I like better. I agree that Pass sounds different, and for the ri...
The sound of electrolytic capacitors failing @atmasphere OH, well, even better!
Are most recordings so bad it's not worth spending large on speakers? Replace "recordings" with "room acoustics" and I suddenly agree with Morrison. The question of spending however to my mind is a separate issue. The quality of components and design is not that well coupled to the finished product in my mind. I wil...
The sound of electrolytic capacitors failing Have your amp checked out soon. $190 is a lot, but not as much as having a bad cap take out all the power transistors, or a speaker. :)
Center placed equipment stands I'm a fan of draping curtains to cover hard items in the front, speakers and racks, and it does help, so I imagine that removing them altogether helps even more. Also, just in general, the floor behind and between the speakers is too often overloo...
Crossover Capacitor In Parallel with Woofer Yep, those are good simulators, but they may not have a good model for a speaker. The link I provided actually has simulation files with actual speaker drivers. :)Best,E
Dreaming of a DIY 8W Class A amp designed by Nelson Pass? The point of DIY is not to save money, but to develop a visceral, first hand experience most audiophiles don't ever get to. If you are interested, have the cash, and maybe a young family member to help you .... do it and don't worry about upgrades. |
