The equalizer you don't know you have I'm a big believer in measurements and tools in speaker design. Of course I believe in science and engineering and that there are giants of both who have lots to say about what makes a great speaker. It's also true though that the recording engine...
tweeter replacement, original glued in Just need to remove the faceplates now. Was it not possible to order replacement coils/domes? :(
tweeter replacement, original glued in Pooh. Is this the type of tweeter with small screws that hold the tweeter motor to the faceplate? Those usually have replaceable domes, AND you could, if very careful, unscrew it, leaving only the faceplate attached. After removing the motor you c...
tweeter replacement, original glued in It’s quite likely you just have decomposed foam behind the faceplate. Can you remove the woofer and push from behind??
Yet another need help with a ground hum thread I'm not worried about how well it's shielded. I'm worried that the guage of the shield is too thin. What happens if you shorten the RCA cables to 1 meter, and lengthen the power cable? That's the kind of diagnostic I was hoping for. :) But have fu...
Active or passive? But surely a good tube amp with a good passive will always sound better than a similarly priced active...?? First I'd have to believe that I categorically like tubes more than ss, and that's not true for many.
The equalizer you don't know you have I am lucky because I like my speakers, Happy is the man who wants nothing he does not already have! Erik
The equalizer you don't know you have Erik, do you see now why built in EQ doesnt work? Kenjit,I’m not going to attempt a fact based conversation with a poster who calls science and filter design "hocus-pocus" whenever the conversation goes over their head. You've also posted that yo...
What is "break in" and what difference does it make? In amps? Preamps? Speakers? More? I suppose ignorance regarding the fact that interconnects ALL comprise an, "RLC" network, to some degee, is fairly widespread. Dielectric absorption can be real and can also be completely unproven to make any difference at all in a given system, o...
AVR with Room Correction for Zone B / Output 2? +1 @auxinput That OR ..... if you use Roon you can apply DSP to each player independently. Best,Erik
Do they really make a difference? Definitive answer is.... I've found some cables make a difference. I've rarely found cables worth their asking price.
Yet another need help with a ground hum thread I think the issue you are having has to do with the long RCA cables having an unexpectedly high resistance due to the length. Try this. Move the turntable into the same location as the preamp, but use the SAME RCA cables. If this still causes you...
The equalizer you don't know you have OMG! Speakers have crossovers! Hold on, just a quick call to Lowther.... That's what I like about you, ebm, you are always able to contribute and use your experiences to help everyone enjoy their music listening in a positive and friendly manner....
Active or passive? I've fallen hard for several good passive designs that sounded castrated at home in my listening room. I have no idea why, but dsp active speakers sound right in my room where all the world beater passives fall flat. It saddens me that people ...
Best IC and SC used under 1000 dollars for my system? Solid silver DIY using DH Labs interconnects. They are brittle, due to the single solid silver conductor, but damn hard to beat. |
