Considering going back to Solid State
How about an integrated from Ayre or Luxman?? Speaking of simplifying.
The Modern DAC killed High Resolution Music - has Stereophile proven it?
Hey @millercarbon,You still super angry I gave you free advice you didn't take? Because you are cozying up to me more than my cats. Best,Erik
CD vs Streaming
I wish I could tell you, but while I may buy CD's, I stream everything. I don't have a CD spinner anymore, just a couple of hundred gigabytes of disk storage, and remote players. :)
CD vs Streaming
Both. Access to full resolution music libraries online is priceless. Erik
Wide baffle speakers are better than narrow
So does that mean the In-wall speakers are the way to go? Allison and Snell kind of sort of pointed us in that way, or at least using the rear wall as a part of the speaker, same with Klipsch.
Wide baffle speakers are better than narrow
I’m thinking of every thing from the wide-baffle Arnie Nudell Infinity and Genesis to the Sonus Faber Stradivari here. Those wide baffles are magic. Of course I’m not taking this conversation very seriously. :-)

thousands wasted on Synergistic cables, You be you, @millercarbon
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
BTW, anyone notice how damn smooth that bass response is?? Ty GIK acoustics and a semi-open room. :)

With room gain, I'm measuring into the mid-30s and it sounds it...very solid not muddy at all. @CrustycootThat's what I'm talking about. Smaller speakers can integrate a lot better into a room, and leave you more satisfied with less effort.  The ...
Seeking Consultant/Designer for Acoustic Treatment of Room
Reach out to GIK Acoustics. They give great advice and have very cost effective products.
Newbie Question
Nostalgia is very expensive, IMHO. Better to get some modern tube gear, or a sweet Japanese solid state integrated. Best,E

Of course folks what we’re talking about here is what happens to a speaker in a room, or what Troels Gravesen calls "room gain." That is, the difference in a speaker’s response between the anechoic measurement, which is usually the -3 dB spec cite...
Getting GIKed!
I am in love with the Soffit traps. They aren't marketed as corner traps, but damn the specs are ideal.

The Devialet cheats!!! :D OK, so the two 7" probably have about the same effective area as a 10", but you are right, they have massive excursion capability, much more so than any other 7" speaker should have.
What next? Pass X350.8 vs Mcintosh MC312 + Room Correction
Really prefer Ayre and Luxman to Pass, so if you can cross check, you should. Also, discovered Roon has built in ability to do DSP.  I've been using it to do some manual (with measurement) room correction and I'm quite happy with the results.
