Cool running amplifier
Really like the NAD Class D integrateds.
Asking suggestion for $15,000 audio system for classical music
Fritz speakers using the 7" Scanspeak mid-woofers, without a sub.Luxman integrated Combined DAC/streamer
How much does a Zobel network and its components affect the sound of speakers?
A zobel affects the behavior of the filters. So while it is not a high or low pass filter per se, it may be needed to ensure the behavior of the surrounding components. I find using a decent film cap is useful. Be careful going from an electrolyti...
Has anyone ever used any sprays or paints to protect the cabinet of a speaker?
Oh, look for UV blocking too.
Does Digital Try Too Hard?
Digital glare. A plague of digital sound playback systems.Great thread starter. Or it would have been in 1980.  :-D

I would avoid playing with those values unless you understand what it's doing.  Especially lowering the resistor value can greatly reduce the effective driver impedance, which can be bad. :) If you find edgy sound, a good place to start looking is...
Who else here is frugal?
I agree that cans can be wonderful, and compared to a custom made listening room, a real cost-saver, but ...Frugality is not about doing without, but doing the best you can with what you have. Lots of us experience our sound system through our bod...
Looking for dynaudio 24w100 8ohm woofers!
Why don't you literally google it? Plenty of links.
PS Audio P15 power conditioner vs Accuphase PS 520/530?
The Accuphase looks like an implementation of the Pure Power idea, one I first saw from the guy who makes Jensen audio transformers. It's very neat and very efficient. It tracks the incoming waveform and actively corrects it. As a result, it is hi...
Apollon AS1200 ICEPOWER class D amp in da house
ASR kind of sucks except for their measurements. I am using ICEpower amps in my HT again. They used to be my main amps. I agree that they sound like nothing at all.  The size and temperature are big selling points too! Wait for a troll to show up ...
Bi-amping Rules
Since 80% of the power/voltage is in the bass, AND speakers tend to have an impedance dip in the 100-150 Hz range you want the bigger, stiffer amp in the bass. However, since most amps are fixed gain (26 dB) if you mismatch by a lot, say, 200 W ba...
Chain of command
Anytime you use the phone's analog outs, you are using it's own DAC. Are you looking for portable music solutions, or for home? If the latter, consider a receiver with built in music streaming capabilities. :)
Shortcut or badcut?
I don’t think you’ll get air, but hey, so long as both speaker pairs are 8 Ohms, try it. :) Speaker placement and room acoustics are a better way to go. Experiment for free with some blankets and pillows on the walls and on the floor.
Something is missing
How far are the speakers from the rear wall?  Focal tends to spec the best spacing to be 1-2' from the rear wall. One thing I noticed with your speakers, they have an impedance dip of around 2.5 Ohms in the bass. That's a tough impedance and will ...
