Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously. To go back, yes, we have connection to some artists and not to others, but I feel, strongly, that what we think of as just who WE are is learned. Knowledge and exposure to it and art changes who you are at a fundamental level, so hearing early Col...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think It's 2020, who on earth uses steady state measurements??
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously. As to Coltrane, well, so you don’t like it - move on. Kind of my choice whether or not to move on or not, don't you think?
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think When you EQ one sub, what you effectively do is ameliorate the modes situation at one spot (eg. your listening position) and make it worse elsewhere. It is easier to place the sub next to your armchair and delay it. This is only partially true. W...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think Distrubuted bass addresses room modes, probably with more success than other solutions. Well, definitely not without it's own share of complexity and cost. Not sure what we are discussing here with respect to infrasounds (<20Hz). My statem...
How many speaker companies? All I know is that the listings in the latest edition of the Absolute Sound audio directory are woefully incomplete Not at all surprised!!
Life is too short to buy someone else's favorite stereo gear I have had very good results by asking for advice on the audio sites. And at no time do I want to discourage asking for and listening to advice, but in the end, no one can reach enlightenment for you. Best,Erik
Life is too short to buy someone else's favorite stereo gear I want to buy the tee-shirt! Oh, I can use this to fund my next audio convention trip. :)
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think The answer is the same as "what is the problem you are trying to solve with a swarm?"
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think Yes, mics can "hear" under 20Hz and visualize the measurements. How does a "boomy" or "not boomy" infrasounds are visualizedin magnitude curves? I can answer this question technically, but before I do, it seems to me that you feel like you are qu...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think As you might surmise from my blog post, I make my claims based on measurements with OmniMic. Best,Erik
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think The Swarm, when sealed, goes down to 18Hz. Impressive! I've gotten flat response to ~ 16 Hz with a single sub. Repeatedly. Not boomy.
My tube amp causes isolation transformer to buzz It does sound like you might have a ground loop, but testing on a variac isn't how it's normally diagnosed. Disconnect all inputs from the amp, see if the hum persists. Alternatively, lift the ground with a cheater plug (temporarily only).
How many speaker companies? Hey Todd,That would be nigh impossible. From drivers to speakers, and manufacturers who put speakers into products (like TV's and tablets). Some are operated out of their garage, and come and go. That's just speakers. Look at how many actual speak...
