So It`s Ok To Mix and Match Ported and Sealed Subwoofers ??
This article does a good job of critiquing approaches to a bad room:https://www.soundandvision.com/content/are-you-putting-subwoofers-behind-viewerBut if you already have effective bass traps, open walls, and have an effective EQ stratejy, such as...
So It`s Ok To Mix and Match Ported and Sealed Subwoofers ??
As I understand it, the thinking of 4 subs is not about volume but room integration. It's not a terrible approach, but IMHO among the most wasteful. With a good room, precise integration, even 1 sub may suffice. It is the "precise integration"  th...
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously.
I just wanted to say thanks so much to everyone who has lent an ear and suggested a good path to follow.Despite what some may think, not all my posts are trolls. I am not contributing or replying to this right now because life has intervened and I...
So It`s Ok To Mix and Match Ported and Sealed Subwoofers ??
As if integrating the subs into the room and to your current speakers, you now want to add a significant and bigger new dimension. I would suggest rather than going your current route:Get your room appropriately treated.Get 1 or two identical subw...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
No there is not. And there never will be.There is a sense of Bass but not to real scale. I think you missed the point of my original post, @ishkabibil :)
Advice on sub $400 DAC (preferably with BT)
The Topping line is  Audio Science Review's darling. Nothing wrong with them, and not that interesting either.
Room Treatment
GIK is one of the highest value product providers out there. For the price of a tube trap from ASC you can treat your whole room. Also, their advice is professional level. Best,E

To appreciate what constitutes a good bass, one needs to experience a distributed subs system like the Swarm Not at all universally agreed to. https://www.soundandvision.com/content/are-you-putting-subwoofers-behind-viewer
'Short' horns
So glad you've had so much fun, and that's what this is about, when it isn't about education and culture. :)
Life is too short to buy someone else's favorite stereo gear

Can you tell me why I didn't like the Reference 3a MM's?
+1 @mapman Certainly for the price and parts, they are amazing values. I was at a show and got to talking to some lady musicians / audiophiles who recorded DSD for Blue Coast. Fritz was one of their favorite rooms. Best,E
Next step
So I see some Mc processors support DTS:X - maybe you don't need more? :) Let me know if you try them and what you think.
'Short' horns
There's a really neat, short, oval horn design out there I've seen become popular in home kits, do check them out.
Any reason to go with anything other than Sanders Magtech for Martin Logan Summit X
It is a general rule, but not an absolute rule, to go with solid state amps when using ESLs because of the generally true impedance matching issues. There are lots of good exceptions though, so it’s not an absolute, just more likely.  You might re...
'Short' horns
How short is short?? :) And instead of adding.... maybe build a kit? Lots of kits with everything from waveguides to deep horns out there. The benefit of a horn, besides efficiency, is dispersion control, this can really improve clarity at the lis...
