Vandersteen 5a, 15 years old vs. new Vandersteen Quatro Wood (upgrade or downgrade) Vandersteen has mastered how to make a speaker play deeply, loudly and in many different rooms. The bi-amplified, EQ compensated set up is amazing.
Life is too short to buy someone else's favorite stereo gear Hey @tomcy6 I don't mean people buy without listening at all, what I mean is that they take the opinions of others with far too much importance. Hope that clarifies. Best,E
Life is too short to buy someone else's favorite stereo gear who does that? There are so many ways to hear what you like before buying. Right? But some of the questions and arguments here make me worry this point is not clearly or universally understood. :)
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think Hi @noble100 It is the link in my first post. :) Best,E
Room Treatment Yes, GIK gives great advice. You may want to consider their Soffit traps instead of corner traps. You can stand them in a corner, they are more effective, and rather pretty. They look like square columns. Best,E
Best "meeting room" bluetooth speaker or audio system in the market I would do NAD’s little digital integrated amps with Monitor Audio silvers (or better). I’m thinking of the NAD 3045 D for instance, which uses a very curious and good sounding hybrid Class D/Class A design. Very small, BT, digital and analog. The...
Can you tell me why I didn't like the Reference 3a MM's? This too is priceless. What you "see at shows" is like what you see at a cheap carnival with a funny house full of mirrors. You implicitly feel the same way but condescendingly conclude that those who like what they hear at a show must be intellec...
Can you tell me why I didn't like the Reference 3a MM's? Here is the conundrum. Many of us (myself included) believe that source and electronics and cabling are more important than choice of loudspeakers. Well this perspective is the hardest to correlate with any measurements anywhere. As some one who ...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think I added a chart from Gravesen on my blog, which shows exactly how room gain affected one of his designs.
Can you tell me why I didn't like the Reference 3a MM's? The character of the B&W speakers is pretty unique and colorful. The amps less so. Those are more neutral. If you like the sound as is, keep what you have. Remember that good room acoustics can make your speakers sound louder and taught. If th...
Life is too short to buy someone else's favorite stereo gear I really have no idea what it is you are trying to say here Erik. @uberwaltzHaha, funny how we post things that seem very clear to us, and not to others. I thought I was immune from this effect, but now I am humbled. :-) What I mean is that knowi...
tweeter replacement, original glued in Ugh. Glad you got it out without destroying the baffle.
Audio Rack Selection Really like the look and cost of racks from Butcherblock Acoustics.
Would you donate a dollar to have these Members Review a Product? Thanks, @rodman99999
Would you donate a dollar to have these Members Review a Product? And what I had to say was already exposed in the few posts here... Well, besides negating my posts I have no idea what that means. |
