How would an interconnect that seems intact in every way stop working, and how to fix? My suggestion is make your own out of Connex pure silver interconnects so you learn how to repair your own. :) A multimeter and soldering iron are waiting to meet you.
I’m considering upgrading my speakers internal wiring OP: I do want to warn you that you may be on the wrong path. Maybe the path you really want to be on is building your own kits from scratch? Plenty of those at Madisound or Parts Express or Meniscus. Also, you probably want to head over to DIY...
What's the weakest link in my stereo set up? I live in a townhome, so limited on space. My suggestion, besides room treatments, is get a Furman with SMP. I did the apartment lifestyle most of my life and Furman always cleaned up the sound.
I’m considering upgrading my speakers internal wiring Sounds like a great learning experience. Make sure you dont go cheap on tools, especially crimpers and connectors Stay away from crimp connectors from parts express, they are universally garbage.
Special Forty? Rooms do matter. Also consider trying speakers with less toe-in. Most speakers are actually not designed to point right at your head. Also try listening below the tweeter firing line. Often you'll find a much fuller presentation that way.
ISP and Sound Quality Also, use a Wifi analyzer. They are free apps for your phone/tablet that show you your wifi neighborhood. You can ensure you have a strong wifi signal AND move your router channel to the channel with the least competition.
ISP and Sound Quality Depends on the speeds you were getting, and how many other devices you have on the network, and whether you have wifi channel contention or not. If your Xfinity was constrained (weird) but TMobile was not then you may haver reached the pinnacle o...
Fine tuning the system. Where do you start and how do you proceed ? Beware chasing details. I would say if you are a tinkerer, leave yourself room to tinker without commitment. That is, if you want to rotate 2 or 3 different speakers or a couple of different amps, then do that! Don't chase absolutes. It's kind ...
WHICH POWER CONDITIONER IS BETTER PASSIVE OR ACTIVE WITH ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS I returned it and bought a Furman Elite15 PFi. The amplifier outlets on the Furman brought the noise in the electricity to 0.0. The other outlets on the Furman added noise to my electricity. That's interesting. So Furman uses LiFT, linear f...
Treating the ceiling and floor, who else has had great results? @ted_b You wrote: Before and after REW waterfall plots show a marked reduction in early reflections from the floor beginning around 1k or so on up. Thanks for that. We are a little off-topic as I didn't want to talk about all floor treat...
What exactly is ROON? Want to add a couple of things. Roon is a split software system, with the core and end points. The core is a little CPU and storage heavy. This is partly because they index your music and add a lot of metadata to seamlessly blend music you own...
WHICH POWER CONDITIONER IS BETTER PASSIVE OR ACTIVE WITH ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS I’m not really onboard with the definition. In all other situations I know of, active means powered. That power is being used in addition to the input and output. Isolation transformers by this definition are still passive. The PS Audio power reg...
Treating the ceiling and floor, who else has had great results? Carpet can deaden foot traffic noise and high frequencies but as far as helping to tune a room for mid-range and low-end frequencies for audio enjoyment, it's not much help. Per square foot, carpets are far less effective than dedicated acou...
Treating the ceiling and floor, who else has had great results? @kodak805 It’s important to read the whole article. I’ve never claimed a rug was a solution to everything. If you’ve read my posts on acoustics I often talk about having a minimum critical mass before room treatments become audible, including fi...
Treating the ceiling and floor, who else has had great results? I need to clarify. For the floor this time I meant to talk about the area directly between the speakers, and behind the speakers. Most of us have put rugs down in front of the speakers if we don't have carpet already. It's the 4-6' behind that... |
