Listening position/speaker position
Take a look at the AM Acoustics room mode simulator for help in finding room modes and keeping your speakers and listening location out of the lowest modes.
So sad about Netflix sound quality. No one can hear it
Are you saying the Stream available from Netflix is uncompressed? No, where have I said this? I’ve merely questioned your own original assumption. The signal is not a full band width Signal otherwise bluray and kaleidoscope sources, etc would...
So sad about Netflix sound quality. No one can hear it
Netflix creates good stuff on their side and they probably record it at a really high-quality level. Yet no one on the planet can hear it because streaming doesn’t allow people to hear it due to compression crap.   Do you have any information ...
Suggestions for power amps
Fritz with Luxman would be marvelous. Otherwise, try out amps that sound different.  Luxman, Mc, Ayre, Pass.  If budget-ish, also try Arcam, but it's closer to Lux.
How can I measure the noise on my AC mains with a 2ch oscilloscope?
OP:  OP stands for "Original Poster" or the person who started this thread. It's a good idea to tag those you reply to so they are aware.  Shame on everyone discouraging you from experimenting.  Shame!  We need more hobbyist and tinkerers, not ...
How can I measure the noise on my AC mains with a 2ch oscilloscope?
Hey OP! I’ve done this before and I have some thoughts. DIYaudio is a better place for this type of hackery. You should have a 10:1 or 100:1 probe for your scope. The thing I learned though is that an oscilloscope by itself is not actually very ...
I need a extension cord with
I like this one from Parts Connexion.  Also comes in kit form so you can go really nuts with upgrading everything.
Aurenda and Tidal and Qobuz connect
Have you done any custom configuration of your Wifi/Internet access, like blocking ports or changing the DNS provider?
What are the absolute legendary Snell model no.s?
Snell A/III. The biggest problems IMHO are now the mass loaded woofer which I suspect are all past their usable life spans and I have no idea how you’d replace today. The driver quality, and crossover parts quality of the time just doesn’t hold u...
Mark Levinson Has Saved Me And My MUSIC!!
Is it better than MQA? 🤣
Long run XLR cables
OP: In any event I’m glad you got your question answered. :) I use XLR cables where I can, just not sure that in my case 2’ long matters. I would ONLY run XLR’s at 25’ long though. There's NO doubt that XLR's have superior noise performance, at ...
Measurement Bias
stereophile does it right.  reviewers don’t know the measurements until their review is complete.   In this particular aspect, I agree, though I have seen JA completely misread his own measurements, that's another story.
Mcintosh customer support
I just read a Mc owner was very pleased with the communications they received when they needed to ask about the balanced inputs on the amp. Seems there’s a disconnect between the software side at Mc and the analog side. It also sounds as if they ...
Measurement Bias
One of the reasons this endeavor is so entertaining is that there are no standards for what a stereo system should sound like.   Well, I think THX did a pretty good job for home theater systems in auditoriums which included acoustic requiremen...
Long run XLR cables
OP: Glad to hear it. I’d be curious to know if his results were more than just about common mode noise reduction. This is proven to be better with differential lines, but not sure how often it matters in short runs at home where EMI/RFI pickup is...
