Another Sub Q: Is my sub mismatched with speakers? Are you using the crossover in the sub? Does your preamp have a crossover built in? If you are running full range to your speakers and full range to the sub, you will get some overlap with a crossover at 50hz. Remember that most crossovers are not...
Should I buy a Denon 2802 or Harmon Kardon 225? The denon will sound better. The HK will have more features. Try either Harmanaudio.com or www.tsto.com for good pricing. HK sells factory refurbished direct with full warranties. Marantz may be a comprimise. Personally, I would look for an Outlaw...

Vintage amp and Hi-end speakers-good match My Coincident Conquests "sing" when run with my 1958 Pilot tube system (integrated, mpx, tuner) and Vintage Marantz turntable. All that is new are the speakers, Nordost interconnects, adcom line conditioner and ortofon cartridge.
Too much power? Great Match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1The aragon will soften out the klipsch just enough.
newbie seeks direction 1-buy speakers that have a matching center channel if you need it.2-either start with a stereo amp that the manufacturer makes a matching 3 channel amp or a find a multi channel amp that is bridgeable so you don't waste channels for now.3-To get a...
Speaker Break In- my experience My sentiments exactly about Revels. They really mean it when they say 200 hours. My only beef is that with tubes, it really takes its toll. For that kind of money, you would think that the factory would break them in first. Imagine buying a porche...
Tweeter hiss? This is not a "bright" system. Give it some time to break in (100 hours?). Is the hiss worse with the cd disconnected or just turned off? What kind of CD player? This should be a quiet system. Play with cable routing so they don't touch if possible.
Creek 5350 SE and Maggies I think the creek will sound a little smoother and more open. Probably a better soundstage also. Keep in mind that Maggies are power hungry! I really wouldn't buy anything under 100 watts to run them. 200 watts isn't a bad idea.I did have maggie 1...
Replacement Driver Burn-in Time??? I'm picky and impatient. I always replace in pairs. That way the break in time isn't as vital and lot changes from year to year won't affect things. If it's "bad", consider getting another woofer and sell your single.
Amp Advice Anthem will blow these away sonically but has less power than most.
Need help w/ Audible Illusions M3A Nice system. Don't fear tubes. Try switching sides to see if the hum follows. If it does, buy tubes! They are not so expensive-avoid crap (sovtek is crap). Try these sites:www.tubesandmore.com www.thetubestore.com www.upscaleaudio.com www.jeffssou...
Looking for advise I like Adcom much better than monster. You can pick up a used adcom conditioner/surge protector for around $100, ie adcom ACE 515.
HELP I need alot of audio advice.... I'll defend APEX. You get a lot for your money. However, I would never use the audio outs. Use the digital outputs only and use the Denon's internal d/a. It should make a huge difference!
speaker sensitivity vs. speaker size This may help:a gain in 3db of sensitivity will = double the wattagea gain in 10db = double the perceived volumeTherefor, 100 watts on 86db speakers will be no louder than a 20 watt amp driving 94db speakers. That's why a lot of SET tube amps are ... |
