Replacing Sovtek 6922 for NOS Golden Dragon. Much more detailed and warmer, will last for many years.
New to the 2 channel where to start?? If you want to go with tubes, just make sure that you get efficient speakers. Get at least 92db speakers. Make sure that you don't get impossible to find tubes like 7591's. Have fun.
Whats the deal with these antique sound labs av-8s My only beef with them is the 6BM8. If you want to "roll" tubes some, your choices are much leaner than el84/el34/kt66/6l6/kt88 and many more.
Stylus pressure gauges What about the 12 ortofon pressure guage?
How do 6SN7WGT vs 6SN7GT differ? There are more points to these. The WGT is the highest voltage handling plus it has an 11 second warm up time. This prolongs tube life all around. I happen to have 8 NOS CBS 6sn7GTB tubes if you need.Emeryemfoods@yahoo.com
high sensitivity speaker for low power tube amp Coincident Conquest Speakers. They are $1799 new and you should find them for $750 to $850. 92db, great detail, nice solid bass to around 45hz.Keep in mind that both Antique Sound and Jolida keep costs down by using crap for tubes. Don't even both...
Anthem AVM20 or Parasound Halo C2? Did you consider a used MVA-5. 100 watts x 5. You should be able to find one used. I'm sure the AVM-20 will be firmware upgradeable for a while too.
Help Will CJ Premier 11 enough power for B&W 804? 804's should be a lot easier to drive than Thiels. Not to knock thiels awesome sound but, they are amp destroyers.
Anthem AVM20 or Parasound Halo C2? I love my Anthem AVM-2. Sonically it is awesome. It is not that hard to operate, especially in comparison to the Onkyo. What amp are you using? The Anthem is very neutral sounding, not dry (proceed), not warm (rotel/aragon), not bright like many o...
What's under YOUR turntable? A 65lb Nelson-Reed passive sub. It's not hooked up. I figured that it was designed to be acoustically neutral with no resonance and it's the perfect height for the table!
Choking more SPL's out of Maggie 3.6's The REL has a great built in crossover. Use it! Cross them over as high as you can (120hz to 150hz). If you keep the sub in the center, you shouldn't hear any localization. Crossing over this high should effectively quadruple the power available t...
Too much power? 1-your speakers are efficient enough that you won't need the extra power.2-The extra wattage will only get you a 3db increase (10db to double the sound pressure/perceived volume).3-Usually the speakers efficiency will drop with impedance and disto...
LP Heaven Thanks for the encouragement. I went to the largest local LP store, Jerry's Records, and started buying goodies. He has more albums than I've ever seen. I can't believe how many new audiophile grade ones he has for $5 to $7!Happy Listening.
Vintage amp and Hi-end speakers-good match I had a Sansui 3000. It sounded on par with my marantz 2216B. These were both very good when they came out. However, when they came out it was in an era of audio "hell". The 2000 will not stand up to many similarly priced units from today ($300 th...
What is the Best Speaker thats no bigger than 14 You better consider speakers that are NOT rear ported. There are a few speakers out there that are adjustable for wall/bookshelf mounting. This may work with one switched for bookshelf and the other for stand mounting? Sorry I can't remember who..... |
