Your opinion of McIntosh MC 240 tubed amp Vintage mac Solid state may sound better? The 240 will sound soft and warm but won't have much above 15khz.
Suggestions on $1k used preamp w/ phono I can't stand CJ, especially the 10B. If you do go CJ, try the PV5, much better. The MFA is beautiful and the AI is nice too. I simply hate dual volume controls.Consider a Classe 30. Very minimalist, very easy to use, trouble free and great phono s...
Classe SSP30 upgrade to MKII? How often do you use DPL? Every time you watch TV? DPL II is far superior. I would gladly pay $500 to upgrade my anthem avm-2 if they offered it. It is a feature that I would use daily and notice the upgrade instantly.
Additional amplification? Crown and Crest are great sub amps. Lousy for home audio. Ever heard sound at a club be more transparent/clear than a good 2 channel set-up? Crown and crest are crude beasts, not refined machines. Unless you just want to crank metal, you will not ...
Need comments on the Magnum Dynalab MD-90 FM Tuner MD tuners are great if you have too many stations/too much interference or too much distance. They tune like no others. Don't pay for the tube upgrade until you own the unit and have played for a while. You may not need/want to go there.
Tuner Mavens I have a Sony 550 ES, A magnum dynalab 101 and a vintage marantz with the flywheel tuning. I like the Marantz the best. Very easy to use, great reception and great sound. I decided against spending any more on a tuner when I got a personal tour of...
Tube Question Try www.tubesandmore.com or www.tubeworld.comI don't believe there is a sub for either one.
Quietest 6922 type tube? Golden Dragon!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Left channel produces NO sound.......Help needed Dirty stylus? Loose wire in the tonearm or cartridge? See if all the tubes light up in the EAR.
Do all 6550 based tube amps sound the same? No they don't sound the same. I like AR sound much better than CJ. I would like and old HK Citation even better!
Need some audiogon expertise I agree with playing with speaker positioning first. Closer to the walls should get more bass (tighter?). Keep in mind that this is a very "mellow" system. Quite nice, clean and detailed, but won't have a lot of bite. As far as the tubes for futur...
tubes with thiel, meadowlark or revel Does the VTL have 2 ohm taps? If not, stay away from the thiels. My amp has 2 ohm taps and the thiels sounded amazing-just power hungry.Consider Coincident speakers to go with the VTLs. Similar sound quality and tube friendly. Plus, way more effic...
NAD T752 owner, looking for right power amp Aren't the Arros power hogs? Don't get me wrong, they sound amazing. Just keep in mind that you don't want to skimp on power. Double the wattage gets you a 3db increase. 10db=double the volume
In tube systems is 90db efficency really the low? I use 90 as a bare minimum. Yes, my 17 watt triode amp has run maggies, but was lacking. Simply put, the higher the rating the better if you only have a couple of watts.Keep this in mind:90db at 1 watt93db 2watts96db 4 watts99db 8 watts102db 16 wa...
HT and 2 channel sub switch Don't go through the 550. You will lose some resolution. I would set the volume on the sub for the MD208. Period. The 550 should have adjustable sub levels. Use the 550's controls to set its output to the sub. |
