"House sound" of VPI, Clearaudio, Rega, MH, etc. I just spent months comparing a VPI 19 to a Sota Jewel. Swapped cartridges but not arms. I would say the Sota is "warmer" sounding with a bigger soundstage. The VPI is very light and airy with possible a little more high frequecy detail. Just my o...
Turntable, where is my bass??? Have you checked the TT set-up? Too little weight? Or it it no longer level? It very easily could have been bumped. Any tubes in the chain? It could be a weak tube?
Large vs small ....LFE out... Sub should be the .1 channel. It will send that full range to where you want it. No crossover at all?
Cartridge upgrade question I've got the same table with the same arm. Went from Grado to Clearaudio Aurum Beta S. Simply amazing. Very light sounding with amazing clarity and depth. This cartridge will keep up with anything.
Crossovers Most Coincident speakers use 1st order and are happy with 3-10 watts due to 94-102db efficiency.
Sleeper older preamp with great phono..... Get an AR 2c with tubed phono stage-it will crush most of the integrateds and receivers from that era.
Rebuilding ht Rotel vs. Sherbourn 5.1 or 7.1 All I can say is that Sherbourn is amazing! My 7010A never leaves me wanting anything but more time with it. Musically it is tremendous also. No comparison to Rotel. I gladly gave up an Anthem system for it.
Anyone go threw this yet .. " Hearing Aid " 1-Don't go cheap on the hearing aid. Cheap ones have too much background noise, sound like crap and you won't use it. My dad is there right now.2-I recall a friend going through this some years ago. If your problem is like his, with 1 side much wo...
tube amp / ss preamp configuration? I like the ss pre and actually roll tube amps. It allows for more consistency with less variables. Tube pre amps tend to pick up too many problems with the tube amps.
Looking for a quality all around unit I'm into Music Hall. You will need a phono pre with most mentioned here.
Very budget bass only amp with gain control? I've got a QSC 1200. 300 watts @8ohms when bridged mono with gain control. It is virtually bullet proof with internal cooling fan too. $175??? emfoods@yahoo.com
What do you want from the hobby? http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/oswaldmill08/oswald.htmlHard to find but very cool. Thanks.
Entertaining A - B Comparison Told you the Thorens was good. The weak point was the Shure. Oh well, you have an awesome table now and shouldn't miss it a bit. I'm still dueling my Sota Jewel vs the VPI 19 that I picked up. Quite different sound regardless of the cartridge. The...
Removal of Optimus/Lineaum dipole tweeters La45 is correct from what I know.If I were really concerned, I would get some dampening sheets and coat the entire inside of the speakers...
Help me make sense of this. The Yamaha may have a slight gain in only 2 channel. The big difference is dynamic headroom. It will have tons more power for bass and peaks. |
