Behringer DEQ2496: Ease of Use
Trelja...If one is using the input A/D or the output D/A it is essential (for a valid evaluation) that the signal level be close to, but not over, clipping. This can be a problem with typical consumer audio equipment if the DEQ2496 is inserted in ...
Behringer DEQ2496: Ease of Use
Warnerwh...You keep corrections to 2 or 3 dB max? Reminds me of Bill Clinton's statement. "I smoked pot, but I didn't inhale" :-)I suppose it all depends on the room and the speakers. Frankly I find it a bit hard to believe that a 2dB correction i...
Are 450VDC Solen Caps the wrong choice?
The high voltage rating implies that the dielectric between plates of the capacitor is thicker. I think that there is some grounds to suspect that the capacitor might sound different (maybe better). Certainly the cost was higher.
I know this is heresy, but...
Warnerwh...By admitting that the Behringer is "transparent" in your system you have admitted that your system is inferior :-( My condolances, and, as Rauliruegas says. "enjoy the music".
Two Subs Vs. One
Theaudiotweak...That's a good point about the caninet vibrating at higher frequency. However, it doesn't apply in my case because my custom subwoofer systems are embedded in a wall (and built like a brick SH).
I know this is heresy, but...
Dpac996...The DEQ2496 has balanced inputs and outputs, but can also be connected single ended either input or output, or both. It automatically detects what you are doing and sets its gain accordingly. I use it single ended in from preamp, and bal...
Two Subs Vs. One
Bob_reynolds...I am not quite sure what your question is, but...It is widely stated that a very LF sound source can't be located by a listener. Without getting into whether the statement is true or not, my contention is that it is widely stated. I...
Two Subs Vs. One
Elevick..."Remember, bass below 80hz is really non-directional". This is widely stated, but, to my ears, is not true.
Two Subs Vs. One
Warnerwh...I too have a spectrum analyser, and in general I can't agree with you about how much signal lies below 45 Hz. What kind of music are you playing? Some recordings do go right down to 20 Hz, but in my music library these are the exception...
DK Design VS-1 Reference MK3 Noise Issue
Tubes hiss. Fact of life. Not a problem. But with the volume set up that high wouldn't any music playing completely mask the hiss?
cable dielectric cause of artificial sound
I have very great doubts that the RF Transmission line theory that Sean promotes has any relevance to audio. He couldn't convince me with all his words. But then he did something simple...loaned me a couple of speaker cables which I compared with ...
I want to re-introduce this subject.
We (and I) talk about compression, and it is true that this can make for a louder sounding recording. But there is also peak limiting. If the peak signal is limited this will permit a higher input signal level even before compression is done.
I want to re-introduce this subject.
Digital recordings have a definite maximum signal...all sixteen (or 24) bits set. When the CD is mastered the engineer should set the input signal level so that the loudest moment of the recording is just below this "brick wall" maximum level. Thi...
Has your gear ever hurt you???
Just in the pocketbook.
PS Audio Noise Harvester
Freemand...Just one low wattage bulb above the TT, so maybe you explained it. However, dimmers that I have purchased lately make claims about not generating noise.
