Using CD player without Preamp? Shadorne...Left shifting a digital word, be it 16 or 24 bits, is a divide by two. Quanta size will be doubled. We are talking about "truncation" not "rounding".I have no doubt that representing audio with 5 bits will sound rotten, and dither won't...
Stylus profile and surface noise It seems to me that a stylus which contacts the groove with greater contact area should be better. A sylus with small contact area will respond strongly to a defect of the same small area. I think that the line-contact stylus is supposed to make b...
Cleaner for volume control Ljshape10...Did you ever actually try WD-40? (That arguement seems to work around here when talking about audio tweeks):-)I use proper contact/control cleaner myself and agree that it is best. But I have used WD-40, and never had a problem due to it.
Cleaner for volume control You could try WD-40 (which is all-purpose good for anything stuff). I have used it in a pinch. But a better idea is control/contact cleaner from Radio Shack.
Can I replace/repair a Phillips SACD transport? Rwwear...The first CD player I bought was a Mission, which was actually a rebranded Phillips with an upgraded audio output module. The damn transport crapped out after only abour fifteen years!
Can I replace/repair a Phillips SACD transport? Buy an Oppo and use it for SACD. You might find it good for other formats too.
12v triggered outlet? Kurt_tank...A remote switch puts relay contacts in the AC power line. That's the exact same thing as when using the 12 volt trigger.
Mcintosh c46 balanced input vs. fully balanced pre My Ashly electronic crossover (pro sound equipment) has an interesting version of balanced output. The output actually has only one active signal(+) pin on the XLR connector. The other signal pin (-) is simply connected to ground, but not directly...
AES Six Pacs Roblanger...Tube amps have a not-too-steep increase in distortion, up to the point of clipping. The same amp might be rated at 50 watts @ 0.2% or 60 watts @ 1%. The 1% spec used to be widely used, particularly for professional gear.
12v triggered outlet? Mitch2...There are so many ways to solve this problem! The most simple way is to use one of these remote control switches. However, the "handy switch" seen on TV is only rated for 300 watts. I have one from Home Depot that is good for 15 amps. I h...
75 Ohm antenna connector for Classe Tuner 1 I am not clear as to how the connector doesn't fit, but be aware that there is a Euro type of connector for antenna input. My Luxman tuners have the Euro connector. Radio shack sells an adapter to take care of this peoblem.
12v triggered outlet? If your preamp has a switched 115 volt outlet just go to Radio Shack and buy a 12 volt wall power supply and use it to turn on the amps that have trigger inputs. If the power anp does not have a trigger you will need to use a relay to turn its powe...
Looking to boost my 12v relay I doubt the extra 10 ma will make a difference to the preamp. You could measure the DC resistance of the amp trigger input and verify how much it will actually draw at 12 volts.
12v Trigger connection for Pass Labs X150.5 It doesn't matter how many amps the 12 volt supply CAN produce. What you draw will only be 5 ma.
Subsonic Rumble Solutions The pumping woofer does not just use up available amplifier power. It gives rise to "Dopler distortion" because the advancing and retreating cone is also reproducing higher frequencies, which are modulated by the cone movement.Get a rumble filter.... |
