Review: Mye Sound speaker stands Magnepan- MG-20 Tweak The mass of the Maggie prevents it from moving at any frequency associated with music. And even if it did...so what? A 300 Hz audio sound you hear is projected from the diaphram vibrating at, for example, 100 Hz, and with much greater amplitude th...
Audiophile quality variacs to decrease voltage? Another thought...I seem to remember that the distribution transformers that step down the voltage for your house have taps that are supposed to be connected so as to give you the correct voltage. Go after your power company.
titanic 15 Try a different enclosure.
binding post break in Cyclonicman...If your system were of sufficiently high resolution you would hear a change when you blink an eye :-)
Audiophile quality variacs to decrease voltage? Albertporter...Of course I understood his question. He measured 124 volts but it makes sense to be a bit skeptical of such a measurement. If it were my measurement I would double check my reading, (even I have been known to make a wrong reading)an...
Audiophile quality variacs to decrease voltage? Even better...it's a 35 watt amp! (E^2/R not E/R).
"Bi-amping" an integrated without another amp? Usually there is a speaker selector switch....A, B, BOTH. If you don't have a BOTH swotch position you will only be using one wire set even if both are connected.
Audiophile quality variacs to decrease voltage? How sure are you about the 124 volts? I would doublecheck this before buying anything. Also check the other leg of the 220 volt input to your house. Maybe the other leg is 8 percent low which means you have a neutral grounding problem. It is not u...
Are you using anti-skating or not Just to clarify things...do you guys deny that a skating force exists? I accept that some cartridge/arm combos can function OK in spite of the force. But it can't help.
Are you using anti-skating or not Audiofeil...Evidently your cartridges work OK with non-vertical VTF.
binding post break in Cyclonicman...I don't know about muscles in the ear, but there sure are muscles in the faceand jaw, and when those are tensed hearing does change. Try it.
Are you using anti-skating or not Of course nobody used antiskating in the good old days when cartridges tracked at a VTF of about five grams. There was no provision for anti-skating on the arms. Skating force is not a theory. Geometry causes it. The exact amount of force varies d...
20 Amp Dedicated line: 10 gauge vs 12 gauge wire Neither wire will heat up noticably, because you will only draw a couple of amps no matter what the wire, outlets, and breaker are rated for.
Will I blow anything up? There will be lower voltage at the 4 ohm tap, so the woofer/tweeter gain match will be wrong.
Review: Mye Sound speaker stands Magnepan- MG-20 Tweak The resonant frequency of a Maggie in its stock stand is easy to measure. Just deflect it about an inch at the top, and time the resulting oscillation when you let go. My MG1.6 is about 2 Hz.Since the MG1.6 rolls off at about 40 Hz the chance of m... |
