ICE Amps for classical music? UCD modules in amps like the Channel Island D-200 are slightly improved over the ICE module. (High frequency response is not sensitive to speaker impedance). The TriPath module, used in the CarverPro ZR1600 amp gives nothing away to UCD or ICE. (I...
How can you not have multichannel system Kal is correct.Since I installed my multichannel system I have evolved three addition ears, one on my forehead and two on the back of my head. I remain fearful of where my subwoofer ear will grow.
Supporting Local Audio Stores are we? Repeating something I posted before...my grandson makes a good living importing stuff from China, including speakers. One model he was selling for $50, but there were few sales. He jacked the price up to $200, and now they sell well. I bet the sam...
Horrible Squee-gy Noise from Stylus "Needle talk" used to be quite pronounced with older pickups. With the speaker volume turned all the way down it would not be unusual to hear some sound from the pickup. Do make sure the diamond tip has not come off.
How can you not have multichannel system Tbg...What you have discovered is that multichannel does not make up for second rate equipment, but neither does it degrade good equipment. My multichannel equipment is no different from what I would use for stereo.
What do you consider when setting crossover freqs? For Bass, set it by ear. In my unusual system where the custom subwoofers are good to 350 or so and the mains are MG1.6, good to 40 Hz, the best setting depends on the music. I have a convenient way to change the frequency (a knob).
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. Viridian...Holt or Hirsh. What I remember is the astonishing differences between mics, all of which are well regarded models.
Supporting Local Audio Stores are we? I buy on value, which is not quite the same thing as price. I don't mind paying a lot if the product is truly exceptional. I won't pay for hype. For me exceptional performance is how it sounds or how it functions, but some people value a noble bra...
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. Viridian...Did you ever listen to that Test CD, I think it was put out by Stereophile, where Julian Hersh (SP?) reads an essay using various models of microphones? Anyone who has heard this recording can't possibly believe that A/D and D/A convert...
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. My point is that the audio signal is probably digital from just after the mic preamps to the LP cutting head..all through the mixing process. The vinyl final product might be thought of as "new wine in old bottles".But Viridian brings up the point...
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. They say that some things, like making sausage, you don't want to watch. Digiphobics, like Hxt1, probably should not watch LPs being recorded or mixed :-)
How can you not have multichannel system You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
How can you not have multichannel system Of course it's all about the mix, and that includes stereo. No doubt there are silly multichannel discs just as there are bad stereo ones. There are plenty of multichannel discs that do not put performers in the rear. And Mrtennis...If you seek rea...
How can you not have multichannel system 2chnlben...The idea that performers should always be in front of you does not reflect the reality of a jazz jam session or a chamber music performance in your home. Note also my earlier posting about antiphonal music. Ambience is not the only soun...
How can you not have multichannel system The movie "Sweet Dreams" (based on the life of Patsy Cline) is an interesting example of what can be done with remixing. It was discovered that the original master tapes of her singing in an isolation booth existed in good condition, although the ... |
