Speakers sound best facing wall???? Waryn...You are in the Southern hemisphere. Isn't everything backwards down there?
Do I need better center ch speaker-dialog unclear? For dialog a speaker with restricted and contoured frequency response is most inteligible. Lousy for music though, where the center speaker should be as good or better than the Left and Right speakers.Maybe you need to DOWNgrade the center speaker.
How can you not have multichannel system Timrhu...Your question... "what listening perspective do you get with multi-channel playback?" Some DVDA discs let you select your perspective..."Stage" or "Audience".
How can you not have multichannel system I forgot to mention, and many people don't know, that there is a large body of "antiphonal" music...composed for two or more choirs or orchestras front and rear as well as side to side. Mono and stereo playback equipment is completely incapable of...
How can you not have multichannel system Tvad...A few decades ago I messed around with various forms of "derived" multichannel, including some circuitry of my own design. In general I agree with you that the typical stereo recording doesn't work well in full surround. However, some partic...
How can you not have multichannel system Tvad...You don't like "audio tricks"? What do you suppose the phantom center channel of a stereo rig is? Everything except mono is an audio trick.
How can you not have multichannel system Mig007...Interestingly, when you close your eyes, a well set up nearfield multichannel system can transform a tiny room into a huge hall.
How can you not have multichannel system I remember when the 'Luddites' were stuck on monophonic, and said that stereo was a plot to make us buy more speakers. I like full (5 channel) multichannel, but I can see that for some people and music types the surround (rear) channels are non-es...
How to eliminate FM RF coming thru turntable? Some FM stations also broadcast on AM (or used to). Since demodulating FM by accident is virtually impossible something like this should be investigated. Many AM stations are required to REDUCE power at night because the signal travels so much fur...
Subsonic Rumble Solutions Put them at the preamp output. They are intended to be used with a "line level" signal. Better yet, if your preamp has a TAPE interface, put them there with a short interconnect. Then you can easily compare with/without results.
How to eliminate FM RF coming thru turntable? Almarg...A corrosion-formed diode can indeed rectify an AM station's signal so as to produce recognizable audio. In my experience what you usually get is a mixture of several stations, some louder than others. However, it takes a lot more than a di...
Class D question............... Douglas_schroeder...And what is the character of a SET? (Please keep it clean).
"pops through speakers" Normal. The preamp puts out a glitch when you turn it off, and the power amp amplifies the glitch. Solution is to turn off the power amp before the preamp. And turn the power amp on after the preamp.
Using CD player without Preamp? Shadorne...That's what I supposed about "digital" volume controls. Thanks for the details. It is no coincidence that they all seem to have the same 1/2 dB resolution.I just got my McCormack MAP-1 6 channel preamp back from repair. (Kudos to CJ whi...
Subsonic Rumble Solutions Mapman...A passive rumble filter would require large and expensive inductors and capacitors. And lots of them to yield the minimal 18 dB slope. Rumble filters are only practical for line level signals. |
