Original Theta Casanova vs. Casanova II
I'm a dummy who can't read. I thought the original post was referring to the Casablanca. Whups. I didn't think there was a CNII either...
Cable Sleeving for cable bundles?
I agree w/Twl, but if you really want it, I ran across this the other day:http://www.alphawire.com/pages/155.cfm
Satellite or CATV?
Hmmm... I'll offer a different opinion than seemingly everyone else. At my old house (I moved in June), I had Comcast digital cable and did not like the service--lots of drop outs and service problems. When I moved, my intent was to switch to Dire...
Original Theta Casanova vs. Casanova II
There used to be an open letter to CBI owners on the Theta website (www.thetadigital.com). You might try emailing them. As I recollect, the CBII has some cosmetic changes (blue vacuum display), some slightly more substantive mods (the CBII is prog...
A Little Hypocrisy?
I would also hazard to note that a place like A'gon is the essence of a competitive market--people pay what they think its worth, or they don't buy it, and if someone values it more, it gets sold to someone else. Contrast that with the retail CD m...
HDTV picture quality question...
Er, you also need some means for decoding the HDTV signal. Is your set top box (STB) capable of receiving satellite HDTV channels? (Are there HDTV satellite channels)?Dunno how it works up north, but in order to get over the air (OTA) HDTV, I need...
HDTV picture quality question...
Might be as simple as the source. If some channels look good and others don't, it may be that the signal the satellite is retransmitting is simply poor. You may notice more when you have a larger/better resolution TV b/c your frame of reference ha...
Cocktail of choice when listening to fav music?
Gah! I am thoroughly disgusted. How come so many a'philes seem to mess up good single malt whisky by *gak* chilling it? Cold kills the tastebuds. If you really want to taste it, keep it room temperature--otherwise you might as well drink blended. ...
Help w/bad mp3 rips?
Having now tried everything under the planet, EAC is definitely the way to go for ripping wav files. I've now re-ripped about 50 CDs flawlessly, despite huge skipping and other problems with MM, Realplayer, and Audiograbber. After some research, I...
Help w/bad mp3 rips?
Just got back from a business trip and logged on to A'gon. All the rips I have done were direct to hard drive. I'll see about finding EAC. Although, if Buckingham hasn't had issues with MM, maybe I have a drive problem, so maybe EAC won't help. Gah...
Mobile audio MP3/iPod/RioRiot, etc.
I bought a 20 GB RioRiot, and left it on an airplane. I ended up replacing it with a 10 GB Windows iPod. If I did it all again, I'd skip the RioRiot. The user interface on the iPod is sooooo much better. The RioRiot took me several days of consult...
indoor antenna?
The FCC has a factsheet on preemption of restrictions on OTA antennas. You might want to see if your circumstances qualify. The factsheet is available at:http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html
jukebox w. DAC, can it be good?
I was also thinking along this line and started wondering how one manages 400+ CDs--Kthomas, how can you figure out what to listen to with 1200?? Its mindboggling to me why they can put extensive brainpower in a Apple iPod, but can't seem to figur...
Magnetic levitating turntable shelf-opinions?
I'm no scientist, but wouldn't something "floating" on a magnetic suspension be more prone to move with airborne vibration? I thought the theory of vibration isolation was generally to solidly couple the platform to something that wouldn't move (i...
Anyone recommend the best small speakers for cheap
I'll echo lovetube on the Triangle Titus speakers. I ended up buying a pair for my brother for his graduation present. Very musical, very transparent.
