Phase Inversion??
Easiest thing to do is rewire the outlet with correct phase. Believe you can get a little $5 device at home depot to plug in to see if the outlet is wired correctly...I'd also note that AC phase is different from the phase that validpoint is talki...
Phase Inversion??
There was a recent thread on this. The phase inverted effect is known as "Woods Effect"--run a google search. I gather some recordings may invert phase anyway, so you can't *always* have it right anyway.http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?aamp...
5.25" Speakers/Amp--Oddball Question...
Slappy, you da man! Just found a relatively inexpensive 535-L, which has a volume on it... I think I will just get the PE coax speakers, they are the right size and while the freq resp. looks pretty hot w/o a xover, it is just a video arcade... An...
5.25" Speakers/Amp--Oddball Question...
Thx Slappy, hadn't thought of using a real amp, but I guess even a cheapo car amp plus the pain and angst of building a power supply might offset the cost of a cheap pwr amp...UV, unless you go back to the "night driver" and "pong" era, most of th...
Tift Merritt
I'll second Bramble Rose, and also note that just last week (I think), her second album was released--Tambourine. Haven't listened to it yet, however... It is sadly just sitting in my living room still in its wrapper...
How do you fix an ''out of print'' scratched CD ?
You might try ripping it with something like EAC and reburning a new copy. EAC will keep trying to read the sectors until it gets an exact copy... Can takes hours and hours, but it might give you a "true" copy...You could also try eBay...
amplification match with MartinLogan Ascent i ESLs
Interesting about the Krell gear--I seem to recall hearing at one point that Gayle Sanders runs Krell gear, but can't remember where that came from...
mp3 vs CD
No, mp3 by its nature is lossy compression. You lose information. The bit rate affects how much you lose, but you still lose...
amplification match with MartinLogan Ascent i ESLs
I've run MLs (Prodigy, Aeon) using ARC tubes and *that* is a beautifully liquid arrangement...
What do you NEVER want to hear again???
Amen Slappy. I'll happily acknowledge the Beatles' contribution to music, I just don't want to hear it. Add to that anything by Enya, U2, Creed, Eminem... The list is too long.
what's your favorite album cover?
The Human Sexual Response retro-looking album cover with the two kids poking their fingers into the green jello mold... Seriously, I think some mag just did a reader's poll on this, and Whipped Cream was #1 of all time according to that. Pehar--I'...
Amplifier trigger question
I think a lot of the folks may just recommend leaving the amps on if they are solid state. I have tube amps where that is out of the question, however, and I use a PS Audio Power Director, which has both a 12V trigger and a IR interface--you might...
Paint Removal?
If its a real anodized alum. finish, shouldn't be damaged--anodizing is a physical change to the actual metal to oxidize it in a controlled manner. So, the finish isn't "applied"--its actually the metal itself, only harder. The problem might be th...
DLP rear projector recommendation please
Very sad to hear about Arun; his guide and tracking of the Samsung models was truly amazing.
DLP rear projector recommendation please
There is a relatively definitive guide to DLPs at http://www.digiupdate.com, which includes an in depth discussion of the new chipsets used in various models, known defects, etc. You should def. view one under decent conditions before buying tho',...
